Yeah I do consider only one job a main job myself like even if you leveled the two tank jobs that share gear a lot you'd still just play the other one better, or prefer it, or feel more comfortable with it, you know? But alas if someone DOES like both, guess they can main both.

Just make sure someone doesn't start claiming they main every job and then lot everything when someone else in your raid group might need it more. :O

With hitting 50 yesterday, i now have 6 Classes geared up well for at least T1-5... my PLD could do SCoB 1+2 as well, but we have enough well geared Tanks, so no need to take him there...

but it´s really funny, had BLM and WHM properly geared, with the SCH/SMN hitting 50, whoosh, their gearlevel jumped by 100% ^^ (shared Gear is nice)

BLM i101, SMN i100, i92 PLD, i88 BRD, SCH and WHM around 85 (not quite sure)....

what really sticks you to your main is the Zodiac Weapon Quest... i will do this at my Main Class and never ever again (probably if some ATMA´s wash up, Myth come raining from the sky, and Alex are buyable by NPC´s)...

Hard one comes now as i go for Melee Classes.. but Monk tends to be funny (remembering where to stand when is quite confusing atm.. but slowly i get the point ^^)

I have multiple characters (2 of which have gone through to Leviathan story, one is around or behind titan normal, rest barely been touched).

Of the two characters I did level, one is my main and one is my alt.

Both characters have multiple jobs at 50.

My main's main is WHM (92), my alt's main is PLD (84). I have PLD and WHM leveled on either character, my main having 84 PLD as well. So both are my main jobs I guess.

My main is the job i like the most. You know, people may change mind every now and then. Gearing all for T5 isn't an issue, just doing dailies makes enough tomes for that.

Then, why I have to be restricted to ONE job as main? As long as I am good with more jobs, I can tell I main all of them. If you talking about loot, oh well, doing raid with FC there is a system called "DKP". I don't even argue loot with PUGs, who rolls higher, win, and that's all.

I think your main is the job you are comfortable at. The job that you'll use when you are about to tackle a new content you've never played or seen before, do something that will require you to perform at your best and something that you specialize on. All three must apply to that job in order for it to be your main.
Your main is not your "flavor of the month" job, It's the one that you can play with your eyes closed and still be the best at it. That's how I see it

I personally see a main as the class/character I play most. Sure, perhaps it might also be the class with the highest ilvl of gear but most of the time I pick it based on how often I play it. For me my main is definitely Dragoon right now. Have played it for months and never got bored of it. Different definitions for different people though.

ninja-edit: Also have to agree with Claire above me. The main is definitely also the class/job you're most comfortable with and your go-to for content you don't yet know all too well.

My "best geared" and i suppose "favorite" job is my Paladin, and i considder it to be my Main. Not to mention i tell everyone it is my Main.

But honestly, i'm on my Black Mage 9 out of 10 times regardless because i dont want to deal with the stress.

So i guess you should see someone's Main simply as the job(s) he/she put the most work into, i guess.

My main is a BRD, ilvl110. But it is mainly appearing in Coil lol.

I usually goes as WHM in roulettes because I can slack a little if I wanted to or spam the flashy Holy. Or goes as WAR when healer doesn't seem to get a fast queue (doesn't want to deal with tanking much)

As an 'end gamer'; I have a class I may /prefer/ to play but concede it for what we need.
