Do you think we'll ever get to try "Chef's Speciial" Foods?

What I mean is, do you think we could ever see "experimental" cooking, where you go into the kitchen and say "Hmm... I have butter... salt.... lemon... asparagus... leeks...trout..." and are given an opportunity to combine them in a way that produces a unique dish with unique properties?

I know - within 2 hours of such a system someone will have figured out all the potential new combos, but it would, i think, add some spice () to the Culinarian job.

Sounds like a fun idea to me!

On another note, you gave me a great idea for a new dinner to try, sans the leeks though!

Honestly, I really really wish FFXIV would do more with Culinarian. After playing Guild Wars 2, the sheer amount of recipes and foods available is what made cooking so much fun. Additionally, the variety each ingredient could be made into added so much to it.

I should note: I'm not comparing the crafting systems here, just the recipes.

It could feel so much deeper by simply adding recipes. Currently a lot of cooking recipes require a good variety of ingredients and, while that is interesting, most ingredients only have like...1 or 2 finished products.

My point is, cooking done well should feel exponential in possibilities. As in, every single ingredient should go into making at least 2-4 things. This would be easily done by grabbing familiar real world foods.

I know some people can't handle immersion breaking recipes, but I really enjoyed things like cheeseburgers and chilli cheese fries in GW2 and hope FFXIV is influenced by its success.

    I like the idea.
The current dishes are kinda unimaginative. It's the same stat combination with a few different tiers.
It would be nice if you could create buff food where you decide on the stats depending on the ingredients you use.
Give us a basic formula and let us decide what we want to use.

For example: meat gives STR, fish gives DEX, Fruit gives MND, Nuts give INT, seasonings give everything from spell speed to crit rate and other ingredients might add resistances.
