I need a honest opinion about the Atma drop rate......

For the past 2 weeks I came back to FF14 with the intention of actually proving a point in regards to how again the Atma drops are way incredibly low for what they should be and here is my prove:

05/30/14-Returned to FF14 for the sole purpose of grinding Atmas from fates and consistantly grinded for 10 hours a day on my own time off from work from 05/30/14 to 06/14/14. Within the first 6 days I earned the achievement Destiny's Child (3000 Fates) and Let the Bodies Hit the Floor (100000 mobs killed) on the 06/07/14. As of Friday, 06/14/14, I have currently have only 2 Atmas, Atma from Outer Noscea and Central Shroud with my Summoner full Ilvl 90 gear and the proper weapon equipped the entire time.

To all the people who stated I wanted easy content or I didn't want to put in the time or the work....is 2 weeks with over 10000 fates not enough effort to earn my weapon? Is it really fair with all my work I only still have 2 Atmas and still need another 10? What else do I have to do to be able to complete this portion of the game? It may be optional but its the weapon that I want.....did I not do enough work for it? Please post honest answers and not some disrespectful comments....I want honest feedback....

Ok, seriously, did you really do 10.000 fates? Did you count them or are you just eyeballing it and just exaggerating? Because holy crap, that's a ton of fates...

Iriadysa, honestly....I kept count everyday to prove a point. I came out negative my last post in regards to this issue that I am having and I wanted to come back on here with factual data to show that I am willing and able to put in work. I sincerely still believe that this is by one of the worst game designs I have seen in alot of MMO's I have played and I have done alot of timesinks and I will say this is bar far the worst....people on here may not agree but I do not know any other game that I have played in where it takes over 2 weeks to get one item. If I was 10/12 I would not have been on herer but I sincerely only have 2/12 in 2 weeks and over 10000 fates......again, is it really fair and worth it?

Whether it's worth or not is more a personal matter. In game terms, it leads to the second best weapon (Novus) currently and will likely keep doing so as the game progresses. To me, the time invested is not worth it, but it really is a personal choice.

Fair... you could argue there's nothing as fair as randomness, as it has no prejudice. However, when we complain about RNG not being fair what we are really saying is that it's not evenly balanced. In this sense, no, it isn't at all.

Finally, I have seen this design in other MMOs before, many times, so it's not the worst I've seen. Yet that doesn't make it any good, really. It's trash design and the easiest way they found to make the quest drag on as long as possible. There's certainly better design choices they could've gone with to make the quest equally lengthy, but all of them would've involved more development resources, so they just took the easy way out.

I believe this will remain as is for quite a while, as Yoshida has failed to address these complains to date.

You did not do 10000 FATES. Stop exaggerating lol

Atma is not as bad as you and some other people are making it, and I honestly think that is scaring other people so we keep getting these threads and people right down saying they won't even try it unless they change it.

Yes, it comes down to luck. And yes, it sucks. I myself have done 3 Atmas so I know the farm (doing Novus atm which is way worse on the FATE farm).

The most I've seen people spend in one atma was around 16hours, and that is on a low spawning rate area, and usually have their atma within 2-3 days of grinding (playing only 1 hour doesn't count as a day). We've actually been talking a lot about this on our FC, since we have new members getting to endgame and starting theirs.
And actually, if you check the data players have been compiling, you'll notice on average players get an atma every 200 fates (400 for Alexandrites).

My advice? Just keep at it, put on some music you like, and farm away. Start with zones that have a really high spawn rate in fates (usually zones with daily quests), like southern thanalan and western la noscea, so you're actually doing lots of fates per hour, and not just around 10.

Now if your argument is "I shouldn't have to spend so much time getting a weapon", then its simple:
1 - This is NOT a weapon for casuals. If you want it that bad, wait for it to be nerfed for you or do it like the other people are doing it. Because it's not supposed to be quick.
2 - You have a lot of options besides this weapon. You can quickly farm Levi ex, get a group for Coil or spend Soldiery Tomes (lots of parties for T7, so no excuse).

You're about 3 months late. Everyone complained about this. It's just something you're going to have to deal with. People came up with bollocks theories that at certain hours the droprate is higher, but it was proven to be false. It's pure RNG, Yoshida said.

Personally I suggested every time you beat a fate in a certain area, the droprate of an atma in that area increases by 0.5% and the increase stays until you switch areas or haven't done any fates in the zone for an x amount of time. It would guarantee an atma drop about 30-40 fates in for the unluckiest of people.

But for now, all I can say is; switch zones every hour of nothing dropping. It really helped for me.

Mejo, I did go to different zones every 2 hours and it still didn't help but thank you for your input.

This should really be implemented as soon as possible since in this way the atma quest would have at least some kind of progress: for the time being, doing endless fates in order to drop atmas and dealing with the RNG of this game in general just feels like a complete waste of time and it's one of the reasons why me and many other people stopped renewing the subscription.
