I need a honest opinion about the Atma drop rate......

For the past 2 weeks I came back to FF14 with the intention of actually proving a point in regards to how again the Atma drops are way incredibly low for what they should be and here is my prove:

05/30/14-Returned to FF14 for the sole purpose of grinding Atmas from fates and consistantly grinded for 10 hours a day on my own time off from work from 05/30/14 to 06/14/14. Within the first 6 days I earned the achievement Destiny's Child (3000 Fates) and Let the Bodies Hit the Floor (100000 mobs killed) on the 06/07/14. As of Friday, 06/14/14, I have currently have only 2 Atmas, Atma from Outer Noscea and Central Shroud with my Summoner full Ilvl 90 gear and the proper weapon equipped the entire time.

To all the people who stated I wanted easy content or I didn't want to put in the time or the work....is 2 weeks with over 10000 fates not enough effort to earn my weapon? Is it really fair with all my work I only still have 2 Atmas and still need another 10? What else do I have to do to be able to complete this portion of the game? It may be optional but its the weapon that I want.....did I not do enough work for it? Please post honest answers and not some disrespectful comments....I want honest feedback....

You're about 3 months late. Everyone complained about this. It's just something you're going to have to deal with. People came up with bollocks theories that at certain hours the droprate is higher, but it was proven to be false. It's pure RNG, Yoshida said.

Personally I suggested every time you beat a fate in a certain area, the droprate of an atma in that area increases by 0.5% and the increase stays until you switch areas or haven't done any fates in the zone for an x amount of time. It would guarantee an atma drop about 30-40 fates in for the unluckiest of people.

But for now, all I can say is; switch zones every hour of nothing dropping. It really helped for me.

Mejo, I did go to different zones every 2 hours and it still didn't help but thank you for your input.

I don't remember how I got my first. I got the following 7 in two days by following the clock theory (I don't care if it's BS, it's a schedule like any other): 2-3 fates at the start of every hour and I had my drop. The most it took me was 5, I think. After that, I got nothing for 3 weeks. I spent around 30 minutes-1 hour almost every day trying to get a drop in Western Thanalan; the more time passed, the less I stayed on it though because I was getting hopeless. Then I did a FATE while waiting in queue in Central Shroud and got an Atma; that prompted me to get the last 3. I got them in the following two days, doing a couple of fates here and there when I had time/waiting on queues.

Honestly, I think that's how you should approach it. Spending 10 hours on it on a day sucks the fun out of it (and it's not that fun to begin with).

RNG is RNG I guess. Myself I spent a lot of time on atmas, too. My longest was the one in East Shroud which took nearly 20 hours to drop. I on the other hand have been lucky with Leviathan's Mirror, which I got on my tenth kill. Eventually you'll get lucky with SOMETHING, it's just not atmas.

Knowing you're not the only one should ease some pain, though. :P

Honestly, no. I don't think that this weapon in particular is really meant for that type of progression. I don't think that you should be able to cram it into a couple weeks worth of dedicated grinding. It's cruel that you put in so much time only to emerge with little and less for your efforts. I am sorry that you are at that end of the bell curve. Truly. I spent 6 weeks on my first (and currently, only) atma, Thyrus. But, it is my honest opinion, that as in life... Sometimes, the greatest spoils are withheld from the majority through little more than blind luck. The fact that our relics are 'the greatest spoils' only by virtue of lore is, to me, SE's recognition that everyone should have access to power, if not rarity. I'm someone who has yet to have the opportunity to set foot into turn 1 outside a DF group.

Ok, seriously, did you really do 10.000 fates? Did you count them or are you just eyeballing it and just exaggerating? Because holy crap, that's a ton of fates...

Not a whole lot is readily accessible to me except relic, but that doesn't mean I shouldn't expect an ordeal of one type or another. I'll agree that it's brutal, but I disagree that it's unfair. If you're on Cactuar, I'd be happy to keep ya company and run fates til the second coming of bahamut. Good luck, sir.

If you want to get the Atma weapon then just stick at it, I was missing 10 and managed to farm them over the weekend, it really does come down to luck I'm afraid.

If you stick at it, you're bound to get it eventually.
