With the mage nerf, increase ether effectiveness?

Ethers right now restore 50 MP, but why would you ever use an ether when you can go into passive mode and recover that just as quickly? In 11 ethers sort of made sense because you didn't regen that much MP, even with Refresh and resting was slow.

in XIV simply being passive recovers MP at the same pace as using an ether (with its timer and everything), and the effectiveness of ethers comes from when XIV didn't have an MP regeneration. So, how about increasing the potency of them to be better suited for combat situations?

5 minute recast timer for 50 mp, I don't know the best numerical values to increase it to but just doubling the potency of them seems to put them in line with the new cost of spells. Previously 1 ether would give you multiple cures, now it doesn't even give you a cure 2, I think that's a problem - especially given FFs history.

So if an ether was doubled, that would be between 100 and 160 MP (depending on its HQ status).

There are other methods and items for recovering MP, but since Ether is the trademark mana recovery method of final fantasy, thought it would be nicer to bring these to a more effective state. Thoughts?

I also want eather and potions to heave a higher impact.
At the moment there is no point in having them in the game whatsoever.

Now would be the best time, if you look at 50% of the mages being unsatisfied with their mp resources.

yeah especially since they added ether type things as buyable from the companies - might be nice to give alchemists the opportunities to make something useful...

What would be a reasonable amount of MP to restore? 200? It's hard to say.

Another alternative would be to allow for 'higher grade' ethers that could become a high-demand thing, which would allow for alchemists to have something they can make for profit while ranking up their own character.

Or decrease some MP costs, or increase the speed/amount at which MP regenerates - be it by rest or by another method such as those spells that regenerate MP.

Well if it means anything, +3 ethers allow for what, 80 mp back, and then there are the fire/earth/water ethers or whatever and those I think MIGHT have an impact on what you put your stats into elemental-wise.

But as they are, yes they need a huge boost and if they don't get one then I guess we're going to have to wait for when the stat fixes come. If they're fixed to the point where you need most of them in MND, then eff-all. I still wouldn't do it. Lower MP is worth having stats put into VIT.
Especially if it means living longer.
