    Atma Silver Lining (Kind of)

I still hate Farming ATMA, but there is a silver lining "kind of". (SPIRTBONDING)
Your going to need Materia for Novus anyway, or Gil Dealers choice. I personally made half a Mill, and got a great head start on my Novus. Farming with no linear progression still sucks I agree. But at least now there is some benefits. Hope This Helps

This is the only reason I can bring myself to touch FATES. A group of friends and I (4 of us) are all working on our weapons together (Couldn't bring ourselves to do atma until 2.28) and decided to start stockpiling materia now. I'm the only 50 goldsmith so they provide the money to buy mats (and 2 of them have 50 miner so they go out and mine some as well) and I pump out 40-50 sets of jewelry a week. Were planning for 1 stack of each tier (besides T4 materia) for det and cit (since we would all use these) and about half a stack of accuracy. Almost done with T1 about half with T3 and T2 is currently the lowest.

The only problem is now gdamn wind shards are inflating so much its starting to be a problem. Did the math last night and a lvl 29 set of jewelry is ~7k gil. 4k of that is just from the wind shards involved. And considering were about done with the lvl 29 set and I'm going to start having to make only 39 and 49 sets..... The cost is going to hurt.

Going through ~500k a week is really going to be a problem likely will have to start selling off a portion of our stockpile to afford to continue.

Sry i have never really spirit bonded gear specifically to obtain the materias. Do i just buy decent gear off the MB and bond it then break it down and buy the same gear again and just keep farming the fates i need for my atmas?

Usually more efficient to craft it yourself.

Personally I just make right side as left side crafting requires a lot more materials where as jewelry is just ingot + stone = item

Though I could be making a helm with goldsmithing too.... Honestly the only reason I don't is because I'm keeping 2 FC bank tabs filled with sets and the tabs are 5 slots across (1 full set) and adding the helm would fk that up.

But yes once you have the items you just do the fates (SB very fast actually) then convert it and equip a new set of the same items again.

Danburite/Flourite for ilvl 29 jewelry (common T1 and rare T2 materia... The sets listed are for the highest chance of crit and det materia)

Zircon/Spinel for ilvl 49 jewelry (common T3 and rare T4 materia... Same as above)

If your after a different stat then the jewelry set changes. You ignore the primary stat doesn't matter if your a monk/drg wearing Int jewelry.

Low level mining retainers can gather 30 shards every 40min. You can purchase ventures using GC seals you earn from Fate grinding.

Ironic that you use the term "silver linings" with image references to an actress who starred in a film called "The Silver Linings Playbook."

    Oh wait…

While true I don't think you realize the # of shards involved in this.

    ilvl 29 jewelry = 34 wind /10 fire (18 ore / 7 raw gems)
    ilvl 39 jewelry = 68 wind /20 fire (18 ore / 7 raw gems)
    ilvl 49 jewelry = 95 wind /30 fire (24 ore / 7 raw gems)

That's PER SET. So when it's down to just the 49 jewelry to make were looking at close to 4000 wind shards and 1200 fire shards per week.

And that's just shards. Forgetting ore/raw gems.

30-40 sets a week. Retainers are helpful but its still staggering the number of supplies I can run through in 1 sitting.

I do, I grind fates now and again with jewelry I craft myself. Sending out my retainer frequently for shards helps to mitigate this quite a bit on a personal level. If all of you are doing this, it should help a lot.

However, I do agree that crafting is way too dependent on low level shards for high level recipes. They need to tone down the shard/crystal/cluster cost of stuff.

The only silver lining I see is that SE is more focused on their bottom line than what players want. Why couldn't they have used the Extreme primals in the quest line? at least then I would be able to effectively make some progress on my tank achievement and have a chance at those mounts and mirrors.

oh dear, my good sir but if we used simplicity we'd be no better than simpleton monkeys, swinging from vines and partaking in deviant acts of the crap flinging kind, i do say, sir.
