I actually did meet someone who played FFXIV.

My fiance and I went out with a friend of his for dinner one night, and he kidnapped us and took us to his friend's house. We were having a pretty good time, regardless, but later in the night they decided to play some Soul Calibur and Tekken. When he turned on the console, we saw "A Realm Reborn" and we were like "no way!"

Turns out he was on Malboro, and he only got a chance to play a couple months before hard times fell on him and he had to quit the game until further notice. Was still funny, though.

Boyfriend and I "met" by being part of the same Coil group starting back in March. Actual meeting followed soon after. <3

No worries, XIV won't change that :-( It's a game where nobody talks outside of FCs. And if they do, you usually wish they hadn't.

I remember, walking past a university campus.. bunch of guys were arguing at each other over who keeps causing wipes on Titan.

Its surprising how many people around play this, but you wouldn't know..

haha isn't that true? In FFXI you met and talked to so many different people it seems, especially during parties where the battle system actually allowed for some minor chatting. Even if you had time to chat in XIV during dungeons, with everyone being on different servers most of the time, you probably wont see those people ever again. XIV is a rather quiet game compared to XI
