Players Met IRL!

Discuss any experiences you've had meeting fellow FFXIV players IRL, either by accident or on purpose!

I'll start:

My fiance and I moved into a new house this weekend. A technician from our ISP had to come over to provide us with the cable boxes, router, etc. We're still unpacking things when she arrives, and she notices our game collection. "Oh you guys are gamers? What have you been playing lately?" Of course we both answer, "FFXIV". Immediately she laughs and says "No way! I just started playing not that long ago!" We get to talking, she's actually on a different server, but we exchange information and talk about our experiences. It was a cool surprise to meet a fellow player out of the blue.

My little brother's friends (who I last met when they were kids) all play the game now, and my brother has become the medium between us of sorts as we exchange experiences and updates on what we are doing now.
He is so bored of this that he started asking me to just move to their server lol.

And I'm the only girl at works who actively plays video games, so when some guys asked for MMO recommendations I mentionend FFXIV. Three of them played, although only one is still actively playing.

I met my boyfriend on FFXIV.
I use to live in florida, he in Mississippi. Moved two months ago so we could be closer.
XD It's pretty weird.

A few people I played with went to EGX in Birmingham back at the start of the year. Had people travel from outside the UK too to go to Birmingham, myself included in the few there was about 7 or 8, I think, of us there.

Great thing was, we didn't spend our time talking about the game. A few already knew each other in RL as friends or SOs but a lot of us were meeting for the first time so it was pretty fun.

I went on a date with a guy - this is funny - simply because he had listed FFXIV as one of the games he had played. It didn't work out so well, but it was still plenty fancy!

Me and my cousin (same FC, same raid group) are going to meet several other friends from our static at the Vegas fan fest.


Hopefully along with others from our server! We will probably have a small showing but it will be cool to meet people I have seen/played this game with for the better part of a year

During FFXI, my best friend and I met up with one of the THFs from our linkshell when she was in our city on business. We were supposed to do stuff all weekend, but after the first night, he and her didn't leave her hotel room. 9 months later they were expecting their first child Now, they have two sons and live together across the country.

I was walking across campus headbobbing to Titan's theme and singing the lyrics (loudly it seemed) when another student came to my side and tapped my shoulder. I removed my headphones only for him to tell me "Don't sing that jerks praises. I still haven't beaten him in extreme mode." I was stunned and asked him which server he was on, but unfortunately he was on Diablos.

I knew a bunch of ppl from FFXI for a long time. We didn't talk or see each other's photo until 5th year that we decided to go to PAX Prime (Seattle) together @ 2010. They all know each other since very little. They were neighbors and some went to same elementary, high school and university together.

I've never been to Seattle before. Good thing it's a much friendly airport than LAX that I can just take the light rail to the downtown. However, it was still very confusing and scary to find the road to the hotel. When I arrived my hotel, I called one of them. He told me they were about to eat, I should go find them at the hotel's restaurant.
I put down my stuffs, changed clothes and brought my camera. It took forever for the elevator to come since it was a huge event as always. Finally, I got into one elevator, but one big problem came into my mind..."I don't know what were they look like!? =.=" my phone was extremely crappy and hard to get one bar signal too... Then, many bunch of ppl came in each floors. I heard one bunch of them said
A: "Do you know what he looks like?"
B: "no"
C: "so he will meet us down there?"
B: "he said he is coming down."


I just start to stare at these ppl and /think cus the B's voice sounds familiar that I heard from phone one time.
They probably felt the weird keen eyes and /think x 4 (there was another D).
that's how we met IRL.

There are more ff14 "/shocked :O I wanna see you drunk!!! /laugh" IRL met story tho =.= ppl are meanies J/K :P
