I haven't met anyone I know playing this game IRL. I know where some of them live, or a general idea, but I'm too broke to go traveling across country.

I LIKE the fence. I get 2 groups to laugh at then.

Sadly, no. But I would be up for meeting some of my friends on here in real life. 'u' Would be a great experience. I know a couple of my FC members are from the area I am at. Though haven't met them. Would like to but I am a bit scared. xD;
Haven't ran into other FFXIV random gamers irl as well. Then again, I am sure most don't expect a hijabi to be playing mmorpgs.. xD

Always designate the meeting place in a public area where there are witnesses.
Met my hubby on XI. Even though we were from different parts of the world, I flew to meet him and haven't left his side since. Now we're here in XIV :3
Actually, we had a very nice linkshell for many years, which started back in FF XI in the year 2006. With people from entire EU, US, Thailand, Australia. And we had yearly linkshell meetings in real life. Of course, not everyone could attend them, but they were fun! Two times in the UK, once in California, once in Florida, two in german language regions, one skiing week in Switzerland was planned ...
But sadly, then came Duty Finder AAR and it turned into a game which does not encourage building social networks, or even becoming close to each other and encouraging friendships. Quite the contrary, the social experiences in the game became quite toxic. Since then, our community deteriorated, too. And the last meeting has happened in May 2012, and only 5 people attended there.

On New Year's Day I ran into a Mi'quote (?) standing by the big crystal in a lonely New Gridania. I sent her a Tell and we started talking.
3 months later she was flying from Japan to visit me in April and again in June. Everything was so natural and there was never an awkward moment between us. I had a moment of pause as we sat in my living room watching Fairy Tail (jealous she didn't need to read subtitles lol) that half a year ago she was just a random character I happened to run into. On a server I transfered to to play with my friends. Amazing how things work out, yes?
Now I have more than the Tokyo Towers to look forward to when I visit Japan.

I have yet to meet any fellow FF14 gamers IRL.
The closest I've come, is meeting people who play similar games as I do... I play some shooters & other types of games.
Even though I haven't met any fellow players IRL, I've met some great players through "Duty Finder" oddly enough.
I rarely meet anyone offline from games, probably since I really dont make friends. Not even in guilds and free companies. Though all these people who meet their significant other, I am a tad jealous of, but I doubt Id ever be one of the happy stories people pass around about meeting that one special person in game. >.>
this thread makes me feel more alone /cry
