Yes, good point, you should only use the macro for silence duty and use the normal ability when you're just doing DPS. There's no need to inform your party you're using blunt arrow unless you're on silence duty.![]()
Actually macros in general i would rather avoid as they cannot always be reliable but in instances were you have multiple Bards it be good so not all waste silence at once
I myself have a macro setup for Mage's Ballad but also have just Mage's Ballad on my hotbar as to not always spam a message
I am fairly certain High Voltage can also be interupted by a tank as well (PLD), as well as Monk as mentioned, therefore i only do coil as blm now days
Certain attacks after a while are resistent to silence meaning after the 2nd or 3rd time it does nothing anymore, as you grow you will learn these with experience
As for CT, well again i used to run as Bard when i first started out and do not actually recall situations in there were it would be needed.
Another situation were silence is good is Haukke HM final boss, when the eye enemy spawns and it casts stoneskin, stunning this leaves the boss herself more vulnerable if it is silenced
In the Atomos fight where you're split into three parallel sections where 5 party members have to hang back on the glowing platform that allows a neighboring party to attack their Atomos, Dira will sometimes approach and target the circle with a Void Fire III AOE and if it isn't stunned/silenced it can one-shot everyone on the platform if they don't dodge it, and if they do dodge it then by going off the platform they've impacted another party's Atomos fight. The Bard's best positioned to silence this and it shouldn't be needed any more frequently than the 30s cooldown. This one's easy to silence, you'll see her coming at the party, and the cast bar is pretty generous. If she's instead casting the AOE at the OT who's not on the platform and can simply dodge it, it's best to save it vs. put it on CD.
Hey. I 106 bard with t1-9 clear. For silence I use this macro.
/macroicon "Blunt Arrow"
/mark ignore1 <t>
/ac "Blunt Arrow" <f>
/ac "Blunt Arrow" <t>
The reason for the ignore is so I can still spam my silence without spamming the chat while still informing my team that I used silence. The reason it targets the focus target is because there are fights such as turn 9 where you might have multiple targets. Let\\'s say your team expects you to silence the blue golem, but the green golem needs to die first because it\\'s the biggest threat. With this macro you can quickly focus target the blue golem then switch to fighting green. While in combat with green if you see blue casting earth shock you can just hit your blunt arrow macro and it will instantly silence the blue golem even if your still targeting green.
