However I always liked traveling in FFXI.
There are times I want to be there now, and times I wanted to travel between towns and go afk for a few mins ie(washroom, Grab a drink).
Now people have no time for anything. I was running bray hard with my hubby he had to go AFK phone call. And people voted to kick the second he said AFK.
He was kicked, I quickly dropped.
Commendations.
If I play dps I only give it out to other dps.
If I play tank I only give it out to healers.
If I play healer I only give it out to tank.
Only if they should be getting a commendation.
There are always exceptions to the rules!
It's really unfortunate. ;; Though at the least there needs to be an option for content like this. Afterall, people say they don't have any time to do things but they'll grind for their Novus weapons for sure.

This has been requested before...
If you get a dev response, you can expect:
Thank you for your feedback,
We have no plans to implement such a feature as players would likely experience stress from missing an airship, or having to wait for the ride to finish, or from seeing Eorzea from such an alarming height.
With stresses such as these, players may have difficulty visiting youtube in order to watch and memorize the gimmicks in the upcoming 2.3 endgame content. Success in these battles will earn players with revolutionary rewards, such as ilvl115 gear and more Tomes to buy other ilvl115 gear.
Please note that in patch 2.4 we are planning on more youtube gimmick fights and further revolutionary rewards, such as ilvl120 gear, and Tomes
Also, though this is not finalized, we will also be adding youtube gimmick fights in 2.5 with amazing ilvl125 gear, and Tomes.
And finally, we have a sneak preview of the long awaited 3.0 expansion update -- featuring all new youtube gimmick battles, ilvl130 gear, and Tomes!
Please look forward to it.

If they were to implement this,I think it should be like a mini-game (like the boat in Runescape, I forget the name). Disciple of Hand classes could repair the airship as it gets attacked. WVR/LTW on the sails, ARM/BSM/GSM could work on weapons that the airship uses to defends itself, as well as various defenses. CRP could repair the hull. Dunno about ALC or CUL.
DoW would use the cannons and general defenses of the ship
Dunno about DoL. I can come up with things, but they all seem a little iffy. Maybe they could dig through the storage of the ship for the various materials and ammunition the other two classes would need to properly do their jobs.
If you succeed, you reach your destiny safely and receive a reward for defending the airship, otherwise it drops you somewhere between where you started and where you were going.
But just adding long airship flights for the sake of long airship flights? Sounds a little unneeded. At least if they turn it into a kind of minigame that utilizes all of the various classes, it can give people new things to work together over. Personally, I would KILL to have content like this, something out of the norm from just killing things.
I dunno. Having a minigame you HAVE to do on the airship kinda defeats the point. A real time airship would give players the opportunity to have a short break.

I can take a short break in all kinds of places though. Any major city or anywhere with an Aetheryte is already safe to rest at. Chocobos actually serve as an airship of sorts between the smaller encampments as well. I just think if you were stuck on an airship for 10 or 15 minutes (or even more), it would get boring really fast, the feature would just completely die without some kind of incentive, which would just make it a waste of time for the dev team to even bother with.
I think it would be neat to look down on Eorzea from the sky and all, I just don't know how practical it would be in the long run, I feel like it's novelty would run out pretty fast.
We dunno what the FC airships will be like yet though, so who knows, those might give you exactly what you want!
