You know, there's something wrong about essentially getting praised (commendation) and expecting to get a reward out of it lol. I mean, I'd hope people don't expect money or something if we're part of a team working on a project IRL, when someone on the team says "good job" to them. Heck, I'd hope people ingame don't expect something out of someone saying "GG" to them after a run. When I'm saying something nice, or even giving out a commendation, I see it as just fluff. You don't need to be rewarded for being nice (or trying to be). You don't need to be rewarded for helping someone else. It doesn't have to be meaningful to give or receive with something like this. Or do people need to be sincere in taking the second or two to type out "GJ" or "nice job" in party chat before they actually do it?
Heya Welsper59,
Your post is very true.
So far, communication with PUGs
Heya all ^^ (no answers)
gj, ty for the run (sometimes gg as reply)
Really, that's about as much as you get.
What a beautiful Eorzea..
That's why I don't pug much at all (except leveling in DF sometimes). It's just not as fun, and mainly that I don't care to gamble with whether or not I'll run into the typical neanderthal. When I'm with folks I know, or the uncommon socially acceptable pug, it's just fun and games usually... good times for all, even if you don't quite understand the jokes, at least you know you're with seemingly good people.
Not that there's anything wrong with being quiet, I can get behind that. Just say something meaningful if it seems like it'll be a detriment to the group not to.
I remember a thread where a few individuals said "typing in chat is a waste of time" and something along the lines of "if people want to chat they can join a FC".
After reading that I left the forums for the rest of the day.
