Vote system with multiple choices (More versatile than you think!)

Let me start by making this clear: This has nothing to do with the kick system. This is a feature that Final Fantasy 11 had that I would like to see implemented in FFXIV: ARR.

This would be just a custom pop up window (similar to ready check) with choices that can be customized as well. Of course typing out the question and answers would take a long time so it would need to be something that can be saved ahead of time like the macro system.

Examples of what it would be used for:

Tank asks "Fast or complete run?"

    A) Fast

    B) Complete

    C) I don't care

Main scenario duty roulette (done at the start of the duty):

"Do you want to watch cutscenes or skip them?"

    A) Watch them. I want to enjoy the story

    B) Skip them. I want to get through this quickly

    C) I don't care

This could even be used in non-party chats like Free Companies:

FC leader: "What do you all want to do for event night?"

    A) Binding Coil!

    B) Treasure Hunts!

    C) Fates!

"What kind of FC buffs do you guys want up"?

    A) Battle EXP buffs!

    B) Crafting aids!

    C) Currency boosters!

This would be a valuable tool for groups of any kind to come to a consensus. Because when a group comes to a consensus faster, conflict/drama/arguing can't exist.

Or... people could just communicate with the chat system already in place.

In a perfect world people would do exactly that. Unfortunately people just don't do it. Players argue and eventually someone gets kicks out or leaves and then makes a thread here in the forums about "This must stop!" or "People are so mean!"

If this feature were implemented, people would have a solid understanding about what everyone wants to do and then there would be no reason or excuse to fight with each other.

Votes like that would be awesome, something similar existed in FFXI, but only few understood how to use it because it wasnt the easiest to understand.

Just talking in chat, just try to cast a vote in a chat in any active FC or LS, the chatter will bring the votes in a mess.
And it wouldnt be that friendly if someone demands silence :|

I've never had these arguments you're speaking of...

If you want specific types of runs, make a Party Finder group, not a duty finder. You can isolate the same credentials in a PF that you want in your vote options.

    "Complete Run of Dungeon X"
    "Speed Run of Dungeon X"
"Doing Dungeon X - no cutscenes"

Also, if you are struggling to have these conversations as an FC, perhaps the FC should rethink their existence.

There are times when anonymity can help a lot in allowing an individual to express their opinions.

For example, the old, tiresome debate about cutscenes in CM or Praetorium. There are very, VERY vocal individuals who insist they should be skipped, and that everyone wants to skip them. However, on the occasions when folks have actually asked whether it's okay, I've found that there's usually one or two who demand they be skipped, and everyone else just doesn't care.

Because of that vocal minority, newer players with less experience who would like to watch them feel pressured and intimidated into keeping their mouth shut - and it's just about always newer players who want to watch, and older players who want to skip, for obvious reasons. An anonymous vote would allow them to express their opinions without drawing attention to themselves.

As for Free Companies having no need of such a feature - if your FC has never had any sort of drama, you're a lucky individual indeed, and definitely outside the norm. Drama does not indicate that a Free Company is bad or unstable or doomed; it crops up from time to time because different people have different opinions. Once again, anonymous voting will allow opinions to be expressed without drawing direct attention onto an individual. That can do a lot to defuse or prevent drama.

I agree some changes do need made , running CM other day as healer and someone new to the dungeon doing it for story said "hi first time here"
Both tanks and couple of DPS demanded they skip all cutscenes, other healer pipes in saying don't skip them you lose immersion.
Tank says they will continue without them and if they take too long they will be kicked. so the group ran off, and me and the other healer decided to watch the cutscenes with the new person.
Was fun watching them all die due to being so disrespectful of a new player
One tank rage quit and we got another, after that everyone waited for the new person and they got to enjoy the dungeon how it's meant to be enjoyed, not clicking a book back at the inn

People seem to not care about others unless they have some benefit while doing it. People nowdays...

As for the suggestion: It might be helpful, since the window pop will be on their set language. Also, if they have some kind of limitation, like not having a keyboard or not feeling like using it (because of the joystick), they can answer that way. I normally ask 2 questions and I let them know my rules:

    1- Quick run.
    2- Full run (killing everything)

Silence will go towards the most voted option.

    1- Speedrun.
    2- Half-speedrun.
    3- Regular run.

    Same criteria.

As a tank, I pretty much lead the run... but as a leader (yeah, I pretty much act like that during my runs), I must respect my group's desires. In order to do so, I need their feedback.

Yeah I done a suggestion feedback thing a while ago saying an incentive might be say an extra 25 myth to have enforced unskippable cutscenes that you can choose on sign up, skip able or enforced where their is no way to skip like the games intro cutscene, but the thread got flamed by the "watch at the inn or else crowd"
One guy in party told me and other healer we had been reported for harassment as we weren't playing our role, as we both pointed out, no one forced them to enter boss area and pull whilst three were in cutscene (one DPS stayed behind as he realised no heals on fight )

I recall the /vote chat command being added to FFXI, and it was used sparingly shortly thereafter, but then promptly forgotten. Hopefully players would find some fun and useful applications for a poll feature if the dev team were to add it.
