Relic weapons

I must say I have issues with how they are doing Novus relic weapons. The fact that they drop two stats negates that part of the ATMA > Animus quest. Why not just have those add to base stats or better yet let you customize the weapon by adding stats. It takes a ridiculous amount of money and or time (pending if you spiritbond for material) just to get stats that could have been already on the weapon at the time. I do not mind the time or energy that go into it but just seems pointless. The game makers really messed this one up. Hopefully they revamp it somewhat and compensate those that already have them if so. As stated before you should just able to add to existing stats and perhaps add one or two more.

Because it wouldn't be fair for jobs with relics with really bad secondary stats that will have to fully meld new materias and someone with nearly perfect secondary stat that will meld about 10 materias.

Ther relics are not optimized equally for every jobs.

It's just for the sake of balance that you start with a clean slate. It is a little weird. I thought the ability to customize the stats would be optional, not mandatory, but whatever.

Now that we've customized the relics once, the only way that I can see future relic upgrades working is MORE Sphere Scrolls.

Actually I'm getting a little hesitant in putting expensive materias to novus. What will happen with next upgrade? Will it just wash away all that gil I've invested in materias to bring in my wanted stats? Since secondary stats don't weight that much, I'm not sure if I should just put in trash stats, if it ends up being redone in next step.

They have said they plan on putting in a system where you can redo the stats later, they just haven't said what it will be or when they will put it in.

you put too much faith in SE. They probably just give you a means of infusing another 75 materias to get what you want now (maybe you made a mistake or other reasons). If they feel nice they might make the alexandrites recoverable.

^^ This would maybe be more honest. I find it funny how SE fights against RMT but then implements the need of Materia IV items. Guess how many Materia IV Joe Avarage has seen so far. One or two he got from the quests. If Joe Average decides to fully upgrade a stat, he will wonder how on Earth he should get at least 11 of them. And the correct ones, not just any. Even if he can or knows somebody who can craft Level 70 items for him and he finds a group in which he can bind them, it is still all random and a lottery. Then he maybe remembers all these shouts from people he is hearing day by day....

I wish I could be part of the DEV discussion rounds from time to time. Sometimes I would really like to know how they come up with such things. I thought the Upgrade from Zenith onwards was something for the more casual players. Not saying everything should be handed out on a silver plate, but having to grind ATMAS for days (or weeks if unlucky), waiting hours for rare FATES and now needing a ton of Materia suddenly out of the Nowhere is in my eyes nothing for casual players. If they do it at their speed, they have the Weapon upgrade by 2020 lol.

I got all Materia I-III from binding them on my own. But I will go up to 44 points with one stat so I just bought the Materia IV I needed. I don't wanna spend my evenings jumping around in T3 in Level 70 items. I was able to bind all the other Materia in a reaonsable time with the help of daily beastmen quests, Agenda, FATES and also my DOH and DOL but Materia IV is just not going to happen. Takes too long and chance to get the wrong one is too high.

It was a nice sum of 1,2 million GIL, most GIL I have spent on one thing so far. And I know on other Servers, prices are more insane than on mine. So please casuals, look forward to it and zoom your camera to the max so you don't have to see how much GIL you need to spend.
