Having an opinion does not make you right or wrong, it simply means you have an opinion. Don't get irritated when people don't agree.
Who cares what Square Enix considers Raid content. It's not exactly like WoW, so it's not right.First off, that's not *my* definition - that's the definition as exemplified by MMO's over the past 15 years. The concept of raiding in MMO's existed long before there were even instances in MMO's. Raiding open world bosses, racing to beat others to the spawn, some people actually found that fun. Instances killed that fun, but opened raiding up to a lot more people.
Secondly, while you are allowed to disagree with my assertion that the game needs more raid content, and while Coil is pretty good for one-group content, one-group content is still NOT raid content.
If they consider Coil a Raid, then it's a Raid. If they want to call Coil a tea party, then it's a tea party. Who the hell are you to tell them they're wrong just because every other MMO for the last 15 years is too scared to do anything different? Go play one of the 500 clone MMOs out right now if you don't like it.
WoW is not exactly like EQ, so its not right. EQ is not exactly like UO, so its not right.
Is that what you think I'm thinking?
As I said, words have meaning. Raid is one such word, and it means content designed for more than one group. What part of Coil was designed for more than one group, again?
Standard group size - 4 (in Aion it's 6)
Full group size - 8 (in Aion it's 24)
Alliance - 24 (in Aion it's 192)
Words are also organic and change meaning over the years. They are not permanent and unchanging. you're entire words have meaning premise is flared flawed by failing to understand that basic concept of language.WoW is not exactly like EQ, so its not right. EQ is not exactly like UO, so its not right.

Similarly video games evolve and innovate over the years. This is clearly a case where that is happening. Rigidly sticking to an outdated idea won't suddenly win us over to your thinking. You're outdated ideas aren't working. You need to evolve with the world around you or be left behind wishing you could relive the "glory years." This thread isn't going anywhere.

I'm sorry but what MMO dictator decreed that Raid only means "multi-group" content? People have already posted the dictionary definition of the word "raid," and it mentions nothing of the sort.WoW is not exactly like EQ, so its not right. EQ is not exactly like UO, so its not right.

So yes, the meaning that other mainstream MMOs have given the word "Raid", has no relevance to this game whatsoever. Square Enix decides what content is raid content. Not you, and not other MMOs.
Why do you care so much? I really think you're more concerned about the type of content rather than the name...because really your current argument is arguing over semantics....which I'm getting tired of repeating. Look you need to face the fact that this MMO (along with many many many others) are not focusing on large scale content (even WoW moved away from it.) Most people do not like that type of content. Smaller more focused groups allow for more interesting mechanics over the zerg fest that is 40+ people. If you want a MMO that is focused more on large scale content then you need to go somewhere else as clearly FFXIV is not going into that direction. Different strokes for different folks. This game may just not be for you. Wildstar has 40 man raids, go try that out for a month.WoW is not exactly like EQ, so its not right. EQ is not exactly like UO, so its not right.

I AM concerned with the type of content. Raid content vs single group content! Why do you care so much? I'm not saying that 24 people in CT is too few. I'm not saying anything at all about how many groups would be appropriate.
I'm just saying that the game needs some raids - 2 group events or more 3 group events would be fine - than just CT.
And I linked to three raids that were/are designed for 54 people, and were/are decidedly not "zerg fests" when they were new content (one of them is current content mind you, for its game). There is only one MMO with really large raids (EQ at 54, though Wildstar is not going to be too much smaller, if they maintain that raid size) but large raid or small does not matter. The game needs more raids. One group events are single-group content, not raids.
If you are happy with CT being the only raid, then that's your call. I'm not.
CT isn't the only raid. So yes, a lot of us are happy about that FACT. Thank you! "D
Could we use more content? yuppers, but luckily this game has atm 2 forms of raid content; CT and Coils of Bahamut! What a joy that is! YAY!SE is so awesome giving us both CT AND Coils! YAY!

It seems you're trolling because you've been corrected many times, yet you still ignored everything. I'm happy with CT being the only alliance instance because you can't even make your own alliance. Until then, we can worry about worthless 16+ man fights and stick with what currently works.
