(Long sigh) Why is everyone bashing OP?

He (she?) stated he's level 45-46, where people are getting the hang of the game and learning how to deal with more and more complex mechanics. At that level, you shouldn't worry about your fairy, but instead focus more on yourself. Absolutely no point learning to micro-manage Eos when the scholar himself has difficulty surviving.

After you get the hang of the mechanics and survival, you start to focus on your fairy, which is at around Titan HM, the first point where your fairy may matter ("may" being the operative word here).

Yes, you need to learn how to micro-manage your Eos for raids and such. But leave it for later. A scholar that leaves the fairy as she pleases but does his job keeping tank up is a decent scholar; but a scholar who is pro at micro-managing fairy but doesn't know how to prep the tank for big hit is a piece of s***.

    Sample 'fairy' lesson plan:
Dzemael darkhold - learn to position your fairy
Titan HM - learn to manage Eos' skills
T5 - learn to maximize fairy potential

Just in case someone hasn't already fully answered.

    Sometimes.

There are PLENTY of fights where controlling eos is entirely or 90% unnecessary (a outdated example.. but Garuda HM. Poping rouse + illumination + whispering when the 1st set of adds spawn is good and helpful. But before/after you could just set her to sic.

Some fights though... It will be HIGHLY beneficial for you to control illumination / whispering (such as fights that have long periods of no AE dmg where she will waste whispering if left to her own devices)

Especially if there is no WHM present as eos is a large majority of your group healing capabilities.

    Op.

Make macros. Learn to use them well, then either always use them, or use them when the situation requires more from you. But always have eos on obey because of she's casting random aoe spells, it puts up times where she isn't healing when she may need to be because she's busy casting spells that aren't needed.

I personally don't use her spells unless I'm in titan ex or stuff of the likes, something I know big is coming and it's needed. Otherwise she usually hangs Out on obey. So she can heal faster.

If there's a delay, sometimes it's because Selene will need to move to cast her silence. Her cast range seems to be a good deal shorter than ours, but if you've placed her properly she casts right away.

Ok I did not need long in depth analysis. First reply was pretty much all I needed. I am not going to Macro anything..but I will get what is needed done..done. I am not new to this game..nor am I new to healing or pet management. I was CURIOUS if Eos was that important to control in later fights..that is all. So thanks for all the overblown replies and for some snarky ones.

No, that's not it, sometimes i ask Eos to cast a spell and while she has nothing on CD she will first use her heal, then my spell, because she planned to use her heal first, so that makes lose precious time to counter the spell. So i usually use their CD before it's actually needed because of that delay.

This is mostly right. Fairies will reliably use their abilities coming directly out of movement I've noticed. That is to say if I know I have something coming that'd be nice to silence, I'll place her again just before it happens and then hit the silence. The same is true of the buffs. Usually there aren't many times where I feel like I need that much direct precision in having something happen *right now* but it's something nice to have in your toolkit so to speak.

To the OP, I'm of the opinion that fairies should be on Obey at all times from Darkhold and beyond. It takes some learning, but the benefits are many. Become comfortable with Selene too! She's extremely potent, and in most scenarios offers more to a group than Eos will. I find myself using Eos only when there's heavy AoE damage I or my co-healer won't be able to control without her, or if I'm uncomfortable with a fight.

No need to get overly defensive or snarky yourself. These are the general forums, you should expect long detailed answers to the question you posted and the snarky and negative answers too.

For the most part people have been civil in giving you the information you asked for. If you just wanted it over and done once you got the answer you wished, you would have had better luck simply asking in chat in-game.

So you come ask, we give you good proper reasons why to macro her, why it's important, and you go with "I'm not going to macro anything but I will get what's needed done" umm.... Your really gonna notice a difference in your level of play if you do. But we can't force you. I just wish you learned it before you get too far.

thinking about it, had he/she asked in game, it might have gone worse then on the forums. "should i use Eos on ob- YES STUPID, unless you wanna be bad/not heal end game like a pro" and other stupid comments like that.
