I don't use a single macro for her or selene. Also the focus has been on the use of obey, not macro-ing.So you come ask, we give you good proper reasons why to macro her, why it's important, and you go with "I'm not going to macro anything but I will get what's needed done" umm.... Your really gonna notice a difference in your level of play if you do. But we can't force you. I just wish you learned it before you get too far.

control eos, let selene do her thing unless you are good at timing her skill every 30sec
Larek Darkholme @ Ragnarok

That's a good point. So I'd revise my previous statement to exclude Selene.
1) Eos on Obey is best
2) Selene on Sic is best
Reasoning;
1) Not using important skills at times when they are worthless for example, Megaflare in Second Coil of Bahamut: Turn 4 requires that you Shield + Illumination + Covenant for increased healing and maximum magic defense. What if you don't have those? Enjoy the full (or nearly full brunt of that attack).
2) Manually controlling Fey Glow and Light is pretty annoying to make sure you get them off as soon as they come off CD, especially if you're focused on getting people from dead. Selene's silence is bad anyway, unreliable at best.
He asked about controlling her. Which macros is control. Also, he said "first reply was all I really needed." which the first... And 2nd...and 3rd and 4th and 6th replies were all yes.
And also, I even said in one of my previous comments to atleast use obey opens up time for her to be using heals instead of blowing that time on the skills uselessly. Which when doing that macros are usefull.

I can't even believe that people are actually attempting to debate this topic as if leaving your SCH pet on Sic was a legitimate playstyle. There is NO argument against using Obey unless you're a new and inexperienced SCH or an experienced lazy bad SCH. DO NOT listen to the bads on here that are saying its acceptable to just leave your pet on Sic if you intend to be a real SCH.

For low level duty roulette I keep Eos on auto and toss out DoTs. 95% of dungeons I cast less than 10 Physicks.
If you plan on doing top level content, you'll need to know how to use obey, and the lower level stuff is a nice place to learn. If you're just using Sch as a quick queue time for roulettes, it's not that big of a deal.

Hit Rouse at the same time, or when WD actually starts to cast but before it finishes. If you want to do WD on its own, up to you. I just click on it if I need to.

You get the idea. These are macros I use. They strike a good balance between "fire and forget" manual and making sure fairy is never doing nothing. The non-Embrace ones make sure to fire many times so you can be more sure that the ability will go off.
Have either a macro that does nothing or one that can do nothing if you ever need to stop the Embrace macro. I use a Virus+E4E 2-in-1 button targeting myself if I want to stop it.
Also assign Heel and Place to convenient keybinds. For best precision you should use Place, Heel, or Stay before a command if you want the fairy to do it NOW instead of maybe sometime after the next cast.
The Embrace macro seems weird but it has several points going for it:
- Half of the lines do not work, because of Embrace's over3second recast. However they are there for redundancy. If fairy has to move or is knocked back during the "A" lines, the "B" lines are there to make sure she doesn't slow down.
- Wait 2 is used because wait 1, although having the best precision, needs to be hit too often (every 10-15 seconds instead of ~28). Wait 3 is not long enough because of the delay between issuing the command and starting cast, so fairy will waste every other line AND sit there doing nothing. Wait 4 works but lacks the above-noted redundancies.
- As mentioned, the waits total to about 28 seconds so this macro serves as a soft timer for any 30 second de/buffs you popped at the same time, like Selene's buffs, Sacred Soil, Shadow Flare, etc.
- There is a small gap between casts (around 0.5s) where fairy can do her slightly faster proc-ing "heal party member under 80%" check. Whether this is a pro or a con is up to the beholder but I don't see it as harmful.
None of this is required. I didn't use manual Embrace when I first cleared Turn 5 back before pet macros were introduced. It was never required. None of this is required. But it helps all the same.

The fun of text. I wasn't trying to be rude in any way, but clearly it came across that way. (Note to self: Smack some emotes in there next time)
Thing is, if you just think out of the box for just a second and take a gander at your pet's skills you'll likely notice some might be useful for certain situations. And since your pet uses everything willy nilly it'd be quite bad to need a certain skill at a certain point, but not have it available cause silly Eos decided to use it by herself. Same with Contagion, if I let Garuda just do what the heck she wants to do I won't have my contagion up when I want to use it. I myself always rocked Sic in the past. I mean hey, I was ranged, I obviously didn't think of the other party members either. Why would I care that Carby used his pushback thingamabobber (forgot the name) whenever he wanted to, right? Then I started leveling DRG and realized how annoying it is when a mob gets pushed back all the time. Very annoying. So nowadays it's just Obey all the way unless I'm soloing stuff.
Again, wasn't trying to be rude. But it simply takes a teeny bit of thinking to realize they had a reason to allow you to control your pet's actions since there are some you really don't want on cooldown when you need them most. Not wanting to do so is understandable, but certainly not the best idea.

Unless you are a terrible healer the only necessary fights to control your fairy are in coils 5-9
If you are using some crazy moogle ex strat where everyone is grouped up, then maybe there as well for the aoe heal
And if you don't lag it probably helps with titan ex if you're with a horrible party that dies a lot
Other than that, there are no situations in the game where you should ever need to control your fairy. And anyone saying there is, either parties with people in i55 gear, or parties with people who don't know how to play their job.
Every dungeon is a joke and can be healed by a sch even without a fairy (e.g. I can skip summoning my fairy, still keep a semi-bad party alive, while doing damage on the side)
every ex fight (except moogle) is pretty straight forward and easy. And fairys aren't hugely important (although again they would help if you party with bad people. Like if dds can't avoid aoes in ifrit ex the aoe would be useful)
To be honest in most dungeons eos can handle healing the entire thing, while you cleric stance and dd the whole time.
