Phoenix Down / Expectorant, why bother...

This has been nagging me for long time, and the recent critical on my space issues has led me to finally ask this:

Why the heck making these items available, if you can't even use it in battles?

And most of all: why you let it be used in battlle while in 1.0, and not with ARR?

I remember these items became lifesaver especially back when doing Rivenroad content. Now? This items becomes ridiculously worthless. Even ppl selling them on NPC price at markets.

I wasn't even bother asking this long time ago. But it's now almost a year ARR running.

So... why?

haha ya. i had 1 on retainer, and 1 in inv, for a long time. i found someone dead, a few days ago, so i found a use for it after almost a year ^^
Maybe in another year i'll find a use for the other one.
The shittiest part is, you can only have one of them in your inv...unless they changed that, past half year or so.

That's kinda really lame excuse. Back in 1.0, when all healers in our party are incapacitated, one of us who brings these expectorant will immediately use it to revive healers, then they proceed to pop the emergency MP pots.

I was a bit pissed that I already npc 2 of them recently to make room for other things.

Yep, Ive still only done 1 of the quests with Phoenix Down as a reward since Elixir is worthless, and I don't want to just waste it (despite them having no practical use)

It would be better if having a Phoenix Down in your inventory functioned as a reraise.

or it would be good to save from a wipe at some point...nope.

Likely wont happen, due to there being a limited number of them (3-4 per character?)

I like both reraise and mat for furniture idea.
Right now it feels like Phoenix Down is only in the game because it's Final Fantasy, not for the utility anymore.

I can see why they're not letting us use those in battle, though.... Imagine how easy the already easy 95% of the content would be if anyone could raise. Most end-game fights are short and in dungeons if you wipe it's no biggie. You revive with no weakness, use the shortcut and attempt the short boss fight again.
