Yea when folks say lot they aren't trying to cleverly shorten the word loot. It's like everyone says it means to roll, or need, or greed or whatever on the actual loot, casting lots.

Welcome to Final Fantasy, we raise not rez, we lot on loot, DPS are DD, and toons are characters.

Except it's not. Or not only. Sure, whm raises, but sch and smn rez. DPS is a role, per SE, not DD. At least in this game. Can't speak for XI, as I never played it.
