Prospective Player Question About Playing on Two Platforms

Hello everyone,

I'm planning to start playing ARR once I pick up a PS4, but with the game on offer on PC right now, I have a question regarding owning a copy on each platform.

If I were to purchase ARR on PC today, and another copy for the PS4 at a later date, would I be able to use the same ARR account on both platforms? In other words, would I be able to switch between each platform at will while continuing with the same characters?

I'm really hoping that I won't have to pick EITHER the PC or the PS4 version - having my characters and stuff available on both would really be ideal for my situation. If anyone can clarify the situation, that would be fantastic.

For what I know, seeing an interview with some of FFXIV development people, it's the same account! I'm hoping it two, since I'm about to get a PS4 soon and I'm playing it on PC today.

Yes, you login to your Square Enix Account on all platforms, so your character's information is available from any of them. This includes what server you are on. The only conditions that are a detriment to playing on multiple platforms is that currently, any macro, hotbar, or Gear Set settings are not saved across platforms. In other words, they are stored locally on your machine, so you need to re-do, or update them. This is in the works to be changed down the line, but it doesn't really stop you from playing, just an inconvenience.

Yes you can. It should be noted, however, that you will have two keys. Feel free to give the other to a friend, they can download the pc version for free and play

The accounts are the same, I have a friend who plays both on the PC and on the PS4 on the same character.

As long as you buy and register different versions on the same SE account, you can use same characters on all 3 platforms.
