There's quite a few things that I dislike about the patch, but that's to be expected. How many MMOs have you played where everyone loved every single adjustment made throughout its lifetime? I bet you couldn't name a single one. MMOs change, constantly. Many of those changes are going to be nerfs or inconveniences. Either deal with it or play another genre. Just keep in mind that even the things that were nerfed now will inevitably be adjusted again and again as time goes on in an effort to balance the game.

I have to admit. I was just about ready to call it quits on the game until this patch came out. I haven't played in about 2 or 3 months for various reason, which I'm sure many others share. I was convinced that 1.18 would be "just another fail patch" and that there would be no real progress. However, I'm happy to say that SE, Yoshida, and the Dev. team finally "get it."

I love the challenge we're met with in the new r50 dungeon. The r30 dungeon's difficulty also seems to be OK~ for it's level. I'm happy to see real strategies and teamwork required for progression.

I also took some time today before our dungeon runs to solo Kokoroon Quickfingers a few times on PUG and even that was fun as hell. The auto attack just felt natural, MP management played a big role, it felt like a REAL FF fight. It wasn't just mindless button mashing.

If this is just the beginning of what's to come, I might just stick around for the long haul.

Sure, maybe MP costs are a bit too high (I personally don't think it's that bad,) the AA system seems clunky and hard to get used to, PUG's Light Strike is absolutely useless now, etc, etc. But I'm well aware that this is just the beginning and that things will improve as time goes on. And with those improvements will likely come more nerfs, then more improvements, and more nerfs, and, well you get the picture.

Over all, I think 1.18 is a huge success in terms of reforming the foundation of the game. I can't wait to see what's on the horizon.
Exactly, we need to look beyond the parts that we don't like about the patch.

The concrete slab is down. Now they can actually build the walls and put a roof on.

I see the changes setting up what is needed for a major confrontation between city states, beast tribes and Garlemald. I see the foundations of a combat system that will create a fun environment for dedicated party jobs rather than for all-purpose soloists.

    And I like it.

Game Design 101: You can't make everyone happy.

No matter the change there will always be a group of people unhappy with the changes you made, people in general dislike change.

Rule of thumb: If the complaints are in the minority, mission has been accomplished you have please more than you have enraged.

Exactly. They'll tweak and adjust things as needed, but the patch is a large success IMO. And again, it's just the foundation as has been said over and over.

I find it interesting the change in tone of the forum since the release of the patch.

First few hours: Everyone freaking out about what the patch is and isn't while it is downloading
First day or two: All the usual trolls spam complaint threads while all the people SE actually wants to hear from, the people actually playing the game are off exploring the patch.
After that: The actual playerbase gets ahold of the forums again and starts making constructive posts like this thread.

Now we can finally begin to give the devs our opinions on how to adjust the overall positive changes they've made without it being drowned out by "omg im quitting" threads.

    +1 to OP.

This patch was a major success. It brought players back and the majority of people are having a fun time.

Remember, SE's never going to please everyone, every time. Take said rantings with a grain of salt, people. I assure you, Yoshida does.

For those of you who are able to see what the bigger picture probably is and are still upset by some of these changes, repeat this mantra to yourself...

It's only the beginning of the changes to a game that's being remade for a re-launch. tweaks and adjustments will be made. SE's proven they're willing to listen to reasonable, constructive feedback.
    Yes, you are right but.

We feel cheated. Tell me where it was said that we would get nerfed like that? All classes, game made party only?

All the posts yoshi posted, saying what will change, sounded wonderful , companies, auto attack, etc. But none stated that either you party or gtfo. That's the problem. If that patch note was released a month ago, in details, I bet you that all this feedback would have prevented them to release a patch like that. All broken. I never even posted any complain till now, because the game was working wonders for what it was proposed first. Being solo friendly. You can get all a big clan get, if you work hard. Now, they tried to fix the later, clans and parties which I agree could have more content for them, challenge etc, fucking the rest which is unacceptable. Yes, people will quit, simply because they paid for something and are getting the boot now. If they didn't change the leves's sp and mp usage, and added the extra content like those min 4-8 party , everyone would be happy. Now, it's their problem to deal with it. If they want this game to be possible party only, then I guess they better cut 70% of the servers to 3-5 max and let the clans be happy. Lots of players will move on.

I hope the team at least pays attention to the fact that their current fight mechanics still don't promot a "balanced party" (hopefully I won't have to explain that one...)
