    I suppose it's impossible to...

I suppose it's impossible to make sweeping changes to the game like 1.18 did, and not have a handful of people complaining about said changes; saying they were lied to; threatening to quit; actually quitting and/or saying this is the end of FFXIV.

Remember, SE's never going to please everyone, every time. Take said rantings with a grain of salt, people. I assure you, Yoshida does.

For those of you who are able to see what the bigger picture probably is and are still upset by some of these changes, repeat this mantra to yourself...

It's only the beginning of the changes to a game that's being remade for a re-launch. tweaks and adjustments will be made. SE's proven they're willing to listen to reasonable, constructive feedback.

I would be less upset if I wasn't told in Letter from Producer XIV ranking up would remain the same and then find out it's far slower.

You could keep this in your original thread so we can keep this one on topic. That would be nice

    Also +1 OP

What exactly is the topic of this one?

You going to have a deep, philosophical conversation about the nature of consumerism?

    I agree.

There's quite a few things that I dislike about the patch, but that's to be expected. How many MMOs have you played where everyone loved every single adjustment made throughout its lifetime? I bet you couldn't name a single one. MMOs change, constantly. Many of those changes are going to be nerfs or inconveniences. Either deal with it or play another genre. Just keep in mind that even the things that were nerfed now will inevitably be adjusted again and again as time goes on in an effort to balance the game.

I have to admit. I was just about ready to call it quits on the game until this patch came out. I haven't played in about 2 or 3 months for various reason, which I'm sure many others share. I was convinced that 1.18 would be "just another fail patch" and that there would be no real progress. However, I'm happy to say that SE, Yoshida, and the Dev. team finally "get it."

I love the challenge we're met with in the new r50 dungeon. The r30 dungeon's difficulty also seems to be OK~ for it's level. I'm happy to see real strategies and teamwork required for progression.

I also took some time today before our dungeon runs to solo Kokoroon Quickfingers a few times on PUG and even that was fun as hell. The auto attack just felt natural, MP management played a big role, it felt like a REAL FF fight. It wasn't just mindless button mashing.

If this is just the beginning of what's to come, I might just stick around for the long haul.

Sure, maybe MP costs are a bit too high (I personally don't think it's that bad,) the AA system seems clunky and hard to get used to, PUG's Light Strike is absolutely useless now, etc, etc. But I'm well aware that this is just the beginning and that things will improve as time goes on. And with those improvements will likely come more nerfs, then more improvements, and more nerfs, and, well you get the picture.

Over all, I think 1.18 is a huge success in terms of reforming the foundation of the game. I can't wait to see what's on the horizon.

Great topic. Good stuff. I agree OP. A house needs a foundation before it can be built. So does a game. They are getting ever closer to finishing off that foundation.
