    Wouldnt mind them releasing the 1.0 zones.
    They would have to do 2 things.
    1. Redesign the the zones quite a bit.
    2. Make zones smaller to suit how the game is designed now.

    I think they should bring them out but keep in mind each region would have to be cut up and edited.
    They could rerelease same content + more they had in 1.0.
    They could use Praying Stones as teleport points to the past. Before Dalamud crashes.
    They could release end of 1.0 like a dynamis zone. Much like how we had enemies attack the city but think larger.

    Problem with WotG I found is there wasn't enough new to explore.
    Heres some new ideas they could add in.

    Blackshroud - has a river based area
    Blackshroud - has a Swamp Area
    Coerthas - has a Mountain Climb
    Coerthas - has boating on its lakes
    Thanalan -Cactus Fields
    Thanalan - Red Maze Canyons.
    Mor Dhona - A way toget to the Crashed Airship and Climb up the Wyrm skeleton.
    Mor Dhona - Crystal Cavern
    La Nocea - Rocky Beaches you walk around from.

    1.0 is gone. Let it go. You miss it? That sucks. You missed it? That sucks. Seriously though there are so many times on the forums that I read people's complaints that the devs re-use so much content as it is (primal fights, hm dungeons, etc) and here we are asking for them to do it some more? Make up your minds...

    I need to write it again:

    You guys qqqqqqqqing about how bad 1.0 was and that should stay dead.

    How about, trying to think a bit?

    We are talking about the past, the thing that HAPPENED in 1.0

    This includes but is not limited to doing fight that were ONLY possible in 1.0. Not a revival of the old gaming system with all its flaws.

    Noel van Darnuss is dust now.
    But I still want to put another dent in his armor.


    In FFXI we had "past", it was awesome to "go back in time" and do things (don't "correct" me saying it was Shadowrealm or what the real term was).
    Abyssea was a parallel dimension, this would be awesome too as setting without implementing the leveling in there. An Eorzea where we still have the chance to stop the descension of Dalamud safe millions of souls. Think about it, abyssea Vana Diel has something in common with nowadays eorza, something went very wrong.

    Uhh...

    *scratches head*

    All of those quests were completely new. Even the story was new. Are you suggesting we go to the past but it's completely different? I mean if you are that's fine because new content and new story is what I just said I wanted, but if it is new then it renders it pointless for those that wanted to experience the 1.0 game.

    There were about 5-10 interesting (some were inaccessible without rubbing against a corner for 20 minutes to clip through barriers) areas per map and the rest of it was just copy pasted.

    A lot of those areas made the transition to 2.0 in some form as well.

    That weird chasm in the northeastern part of the black shroud that was vaguely similar to ash lake from dark souls is still MIA though. A pity, that place was scary as hell.

    V2's Engine couldn't handle the size of V1's maps. At least, not on PS3 anyway.

    Uh,'rarely reused zones'? Did you even pay attention to the zones? WotG and Abyssea were virtually copy and pasted existing areas with new textures and new mobs. In WotG case there was like only four new zones, not including the beastmen instanced areas connected to Campaign Operations, and a good deal of the existing zones weren't even included (each city only featured one zone, each 'starting' area only featured one section, the connecting zones with the crags weren't included, etc.

    Granted the new textures on the existing zones (like West Sarutabaruta [s]) were much improved over the originals, but it still came across as cynical game design, considering for how long players were begging SE to add new areas like the long mentioned southern continent where the mithra originated from (it's still not accessible), or hells, even the rest of the Eradjian continent where Tenzen comes from! Instead players got rehashed existing zones for several expansions, and only now has a new continent been added.

    And another problem is the storyline was completely turned on it's head to compensate the narrative requirements of just opening up the past, and the big 'twist' revelation in said storyline virtually invalidated every bit of lore that came beforehand. It really made me wonder just why my character was even bothering with things anymore, obviously it didn't matter in the long run anyway.

    My point is, such an idea wouldn't work in FFXIV anyway, as it was always stated that the events of 1.0 that were leading up to the transfer over to ARR, were never intended to be brought back or returned to - the achievement for completing that storyline after all was literally called, 'Once in a Lifetime!' It was always meant to be a once-only thing, and 1.0 players knew that and understood that. The closest you're going to get to the pre-Calamity storyline would be just flavour text during quests or the occasional Echo flashback. Expecting 1.0 story quests to be brought back will never happen, no matter how much this tired arguement is repeatedly discussed.

    All I want is old coerthas(sp?) back. That was amazing and wonderful. Old mordhona(sp again?) wasn't too bad either. Actually.... I really liked all the old areas... I must be one of the few. Lol.
