ARC/BRD ~ Repelling Shot - Why the near enemy restriction?

    Hi everyone,

Was there ever an announcement or anything regarding of why Repelling Shot is 'near target' only?

I mean, ARC/BRD is the most mobile class/job on the game atm. And - at least me - use a lot that focused/locked on target option, which you can strafe around the target. But also have that slow backward walk, which is a killer when you are trying dodge something.

Therefore why can't we do a Repelling Shot anywhere? If we are on the lock on target and we can't walk correctly backward at decent speed, can we have repelling as a 'dodging' skill anywhere?

You might say it would be OP, but DRG do have a backward jump without this restriction, so they can be locked on and dodge aoes. I'd like to suggest SE remove this nasty "hug the enemy before being able to repel them" restriction.

    Discuss with love.

    Regards,

Backpedal is not forced, you can disable lock on and move back, I use lock on all the time as I use legacy camera/controller, and its easy to just toggle lock on off to move backwards, or if you are using standard camera, turn and move. I like repelling shot how it is.

Sure we do have that nice Elusive jump that requires no restriction to use. And the downside is we are losing our DPS while we are walking in or waste another Jump to close the gap. And the skill deals no damage as well, purely for aggro management and dodge. Unlike Bards where the only downside is you have to be close (not hug) to use it. However, it is an OFf-Global skill, deal Dams as well as a dodge skill. We, dragoon would be happy to trade our Eclusive sump for Repelling shot anytime of the day. Would you like to make the trade?????

As a side note, Brd is the easiest class to play among all and when they start comparing their skill with other class's skill by saying their skill is so hard to use, I find my blood start boiling deep inside....

I disabled L3 for Lock On because it always seemed to trigger when I was in a panic to move somewhere fast and pressed L3 just a little too hard. Like when kiting slimes in T1 and the top podium triggers and you have to sprint around the side if not up there already- Lock On would trigger when I didn't want it which froze me within a radius of the target. Also under settings, I have automatically face target turned on, and automatically Lock On turned off, which has worked out best for me, anyway.

Repelling Shot is more useful for getting out of an enemy-centric AOE than anything. Try it in Halatali HM, it feels from almost like the fight with the cyclops was designed to remind bards what this skill is for. When he pulls everyone in, hit that and you do damage and are out of his radius as quickly as a caster can hit 'Sprint'. And unlike with the DRG skill, your CD is over and you can use it again by the next time that skill rolls around again. Or the next time a big toad like Nix in Mor Dhona yanks you in and the big Leap AOE circle appears, hit that and you're out of its attack radius.

The whole point BRD were given repelling shot is for them to create a gap when enemy goes too near them. It is not for BRD to dodge red circle. Every class walks back 'slowly' so it is not a BRD issue, heck it isn't even an issue, it is intended.

IDK, as a BRD I can't understand why OP complains about repelling shot. It is fine as it is.

The only gripe that I hold about BRDs to date is the nerfing of Rain of Death.

From what i know it is in line with the nerfing of BRD's utilility so no group will attempt to stack them.

I have never heard of groups stacking BRD due to RoD's 10% reduction. They stacked BRD because of songs for progression.

But it is already an old mindset that people doesn't do it anymore, or hardly.

Yeah i too think it is fine as is. I use it to get out of aoes, or if i just so happen to get agro but enemy health is low enough that can be killed from repelling and continue to attack
Nerf well yeah should not have been, but neither should blm nerf have existed
