    Why is all endgame-level open world content daily/weekly?

    Why is this the case?

    Hunt details come out and it ends up having similar limitations to daily quests and treasure hunt and I end up asking myself, why? Personally I have wanted to have open world content that is a valid ALTERNATIVE (even if its a lesser one) to running dungeons, not just open world content that is intended to supplement them.

    I would ask that SE please change their approach to this and offer content that can be done instead of dungeon spamming for those that would choose to do so. (and for those that would not it could at least be a nice change of pace once in a while)


    Edit: I am not talking about raid lockouts or tome caps, I am specifically wanting some content that could 'replace' dungeon running as an option.

    Dungeons aren't endgame, raids are endgame, raids have time locks too.

    Lockouts only really work when there is enough alternative content to do on the side. Which this game is lacking atm. We only have coil atm for end game raiding/worthwhile drops.

    I wish they would stop with the lockouts...makes it feel like a job and less like a game. :/

    While I agree OP (assuming your talking specifically about the content your supposed to do between "I'm raid ready" and "It's raid time")... This is how things have been ever since WoW came through and kiddy fun timed everything.

    MMOs for the past 10 years.....

    step 1: follow the quest symbols around the continent until your 50 (99.9% of this done solo.... yay for MULTIPLAYER)
    step 2: stand in town until dungeon queue pops
    step 3: run 1 of the 6-7 dungeons that are available (hoping for some form of randomness? Nope same dungeon with same pulls with same bosses with same rotations)
    step 4: loot gear from above dungeons
    step 5: repeat step 2-4 until you have the necessary gear to raid
    step 6: sit in town until raid time... Maybe do 2-4 some more for a misc reason.



    Yep..... Glad they took out grinding from MMOs.. you know that thing you did as a group between raid times to steadily improve your character. Good news is I know how to get on top of every building in town!

    This. 4 raids totaling an hour of content a week is sad. Look at every other MMO out there both old and new. They have 12-15 raids and usually take longer to complete.

    It really is a downer that practically everything for lv50s in the open world are on lockouts of some sort. I really was hoping that hunts were going to be an exception to that, but given the rewards, it's not surprising.

    It gets me wondering if the Gold Saucer is going to be on some sort of weekly/daily timer. That would be VERY depressing for me.

    That's because they have years upon years to progress their raids. Also, I don't think there are any new (even old) MMOs that have 12-15 relevant endgame raids at any given time.

    Most likely a way for them to regulate how fast people accumulate alliance seals needed to buy alexandrite, sands , and oil.

    That is, for the new hunts, I assume.

    Yes, let us go back to the days of bot camping rare spawns for those {Booties of Incomparable Awesomeness} so that the Raid Leader will judge that i am geared enough to join him and his fellow bot campers in that Raid!

    And lets not forget mindlessly killing endless hordes of respawning monkeys to generate enough Experience to gain a level!

    They did not "take out" the grind, the grind merely changed forms. And don't even try to tell me open world grinding was "Social", because "HEY YOU GTFO MY SPAWN CAMP NOW!" was not being very social.
    And grinding groups? Yeah, hey guys, brb one moment! just keep killing, ill set you to follow and I'll brb! (2 hours later group realizes guy still isn't back and is freeloading XP)

    Yes, the "special" times. I surely do not miss those.
    have you never considered merely pacing yourself? There is no need to do a weeks worth of stuff on reset hour, you have a whole freakin week to get it done! Take a break, go outside or something.

    I disagree, I think anything that is content intended for characters who have reached the maximum is endgame of a sort and that raids (and not only raids, there are other ways to do this) are just the pinnacle of endgame content. Though they did make it difficult to change the system at this point (for hunt anyway) since they decided to put coil (and in 2.3 crystal tower) rewards into it. Still it could be done.

    'Pacing yourself' this. Game are, and have always been, what you put into them. The companies who produce them just cannot sustain the effort with the money they would make if everyone played like a hardcore raider and the world was free of lock outs. So yeah, there's a certain amount of 'they want your money' involved, but there's an equivalent 'I want everything accessible to me now' mentality among the player base that has helped get to where we are today. If the game feels like a business, it's because you are treating it like one. My game feels like a social environ full of dragons and fireballs and pointy armor.... And it's badass. So stop the complaining about not having anything to do, and manage your week. Or don't like the way things are, and don't continue playing. Everyone who absolutely, positively has to clear bray in eight minutes or less and throws a bitch fit when someone misses lbing past giant bomb are throwing a wrench in my good time, but what can ya do?

    Once you get them down yeah it can be an hour. Most groups will take three months to get to that point. The time spent practicing and training fills many hours for many weeks. The oversimplification award goes to you.
