This pretty much nails it. Remember that those screenshots come from Development Servers, meaning that Character was likely created, and then with a Console Command, given a full set of SMN gear and not any Job Quests for the purposes of providing a nice screenshot.

That Summoner is using a relic, though, which you can't get without completing your Class/Job quests.

We cannot on the Live Server, but with a Console Command ... It's possible for him to equip any piece of SMN gear he wanted to.

While logic is with you on this one, my heart goes out that I'll be able to use Carbuncle on my SMN. =D I mean, it just seems silly to make a screenshot with a SMN and Carbuncle if we weren't going to be able to summon him. I do remember a thread before where the Devs said they weren't going to allow us to summon Carbuncle, they never said we couldn't glamour over Garuda...

Yoshi-P and DEVs, had said on other subjects that they weren't planning on it, but did it anyways. They also sometimes go as far as to tell us why they could now and not then within interviews/live letter Q and A.

When they say no plans, I see it as " We can't atm because of X reason that they fail to mention till they can actually do it".

It works in opposite too, remember the "Roaming Primals" that they were suppose to add? It's not that they can't, it's either they abandoned the idea or something is holding them back from doing so.

I think we're leading up to that. We need the story to reach a certain point so the roaming Primals will actually make sense. Right now they don't fit Lore. Now it'll be Lore breaking regardless to people who aren't far enough in the story but that's inevitable with an MMO.
