Why I find FF14 enjoyable

It's like any piece of content, I find. A cool dungeon can get stale if you do it constantly over and over. So I don't think there's anything wrong with the Fate system. GuildWars 2 has something similar but, for some reason, I never got the same amount of satisfaction completing them.

I don't know how it's like with Leves once you start playing with a secondary class, though... I could foresee waiting and hunting down Fates being a chore.

Yeah, good point. At launch the only reasonable way to level another class was mostly with Fate groups. I suppose burning myself out on them was my own fault, but I also wanted to level another class at the time. They have also been prevalent in the relic quests so far, which probably contributes to how I feel about them. Granted, the fates for the books weren't too bad, I'm just not a fan. The entire system is decent, though. To me however, it's kind of the whole "too much of a good thing" concept. Others feel differently, which I respect.

I only started doing FATEs when I was Atma hunting and I never paid much attention to them because I only cared about the drop. The way the books are structured is a lot better, since I have only 3 to focus at a time and I can read all the text and enjoy them in their entirety.

Now I have started to not care about them again since I enjoy leveling up through dungeons more. If they allowed your chocobo to get exp from FATEs, I'd have a reason to go back to them again. I only stop and do one if I see someone's alone and struggling these days.

I don't get all the fuss over Fates. Fates are by far better than FFXI's mystery lottery placeholders for nm's/camping & getting ninja claimed. And they're better than instances.

Are you really comparing NMs to fates?

They have pretty much 0 in common. You would have to compare it to things like garrison, ToAU invasion thingy and things like that.

Fates that spawn a named boss are comparable to nm's. But yes, there are other types of fates too.

FFXIV is the pinnacle of the franchise. It's as if they took everything that was fun from every FF game, solved all of the true annoyances, & rolled it all up in one beautiful piece of art.

Maybe for casual players, but there a quite a lot of people who are looking for more, with their track record I'm sure Yoshi and team will deliver, but it's bit early to be calling this the pinnacle.

He's saying that because fates are useless in terms of character progression compared to NMs, ppl use to get it wrong, some ppl don't hate fates because they are boring, it's because they are a waste, you may like doing them for nothing, most ppl does not.

Im assuming many people here that find this game fun, also have no problem with building a character thats an exact clone of the rest.

So much fun to grind boring content focused mainly on queueing for everything, so that in the end you're rewarded with a clone of everyone else's character.

I love the game. Most of the complaints seem absurd to me. It's like I'm playing a totally different game from them.
