I'd focus on the atma if you're going to single out something that really sucks.Seriously, if you are so entitled to spend 5 millions on each novus if you are going for more than one, go ahead and do it. But it's absolutely NOT needed. My point was that Novus only requires 2 things:
1 - Doing a daily expert roulette (+daily hunts though we still don't know how this will work).
2 - Spending gil on materia.
2.3 will make even alexandrites more available and accessible, which in turn could potentially and understandably encourage those that already have a Novus to go for another one (maybe at a slower pace) since you'll be stacking alexandrites with the daily roulette anyway and it will NOT cost you anything other than doing the silly maps.
The problem here is that there is a massive brick wall called Atma quest + 9 books which discourages even the slightest thought to go for a second Novus despite having the possibility to stack alexandrites and gather some materia with very little effort after your first novus.
I'll get myth as part of things I normally do. So *if* I was at that part of the quest, I could just shell out for a book every time I happen to have enough, and the books themselves aren't so bad so it's not a big deal to do those.
The atma's, on the other hand, are nothing i'll ever get as part of my normal routine. So I have to go out of my way to get them. And going out of my way to get them is awful, and time consuming. So I doubt i'll get past that unless I just do a few fates on my alt for giggles (after getting the novus on my main) and happen to get insanely lucky.
Or you could swap out some of the acc armor/accessory pieces for something that will give you better damage and use your weapon to hit the acc cap.
Not all dps are the same, the only slots for blm that don't have an ilvl110 piece without acc are the rings, so you can be under 380 acc in full ilvl110 gear (470 cap T9)
Earrings: 13acc 13det vs 19crit 9det
Hands: 25acc 12det vs 25crit 18sps
Legs: 29acc 29det vs 41sps 29crit
Blm is different from other classes since we can get damage boosts from spell speed and piety as well as crit and det. You could probably make a solid weapon without using any T3 materia for BLM, and tailor the rest of your gear around your 50k crappy Weapon for potentially more damage than the "BiS build."

I'd say piety was the best investment for a BLM if you need any. Usually piety is subject to a weighting penalty on most gear. So you'll give up 9 crit (or whatever) to get 6 piety. Or worse, you change your stat allocation to include piety and are giving up INT on a 1:1 basis. The novus is special in that it allows you to trade off crit or spell speed for your needed piety at a 1:1 rate. You'll not get a better stat exchange on any other piece of gear.Or you could swap out some of the acc armor/accessory pieces for something that will give you better damage and use your weapon to hit the acc cap.

That is, of course, if you need any.
Current I am using Book of Spades for SMN, thanks to somebody in this thread
to make me recognize on future upgrade of Zodiac weapon.
I won't spend 4 mils for additional 13 crit :x
May be Crit/Det/Piety is my to go route.
I think BLM may need something different for Intelligence, spell speed or MPYour memory serves you right, however, there's absolutely NO reason to spend tier IV materias which is what people are mindlessly doing. You can perfectly do:
SCH: 21 DET, 33 Crit, 21 Piety
WHM: 21 Det, 33 SS, 21 Piety
DPS: 21 Det, 33 Crit, 21 Acc
Tank: 33 Parry, 21 Det, 21 Acc
And bam! Your Novus no longer costs 4 million gil. Instead, it costs 300k gil.
Because every Materia gives 1 point regardless of rank anyway?
