If you're going through the trouble to get a Novus, why not make it a good weapon instead of just going with the cheapest possible alternative?Your memory serves you right, however, there's absolutely NO reason to spend tier IV materias which is what people are mindlessly doing. You can perfectly do:
SCH: 21 DET, 33 Crit, 21 Piety
WHM: 21 Det, 33 SS, 21 Piety
DPS: 21 Det, 33 Crit, 21 Acc
Tank: 33 Parry, 21 Det, 21 Acc
And bam! Your Novus no longer costs 4 million gil. Instead, it costs 300k gil.
I don't know if it's that people can't read, or I have expressed myself poorly. The first sentence of my thread "what happens with the people that already have their novus or are are very close from it"?
Which means, you may want to do a second novus for a secondary job you also enjoy, but you are NOT going to spend 4-5 millions gil to increase your critical hit rate BY 1% ON YOUR SECONDARY JOB.
I honestly think you guys answer threads without reading and what is worse, thinking.
If I were to get a novus for my other jobs, I'd still make it as good as it can be. I wouldn't see it worth the trouble otherwise.
Depends on the person I guess. I've been stocking up on Materia for awhile I have 99 Savage Aim I/II/III/IV and 99 Savage Might I/II/III/IV I been buying them specifically for the reasons you said I wouldn't and I know other people will do that aswellI don't know if it's that people can't read, or I have expressed myself poorly. Spending millions of gil on a 1% dps increase seems kind of stupid to me.
And having accuracy on your weapon as a bard is very important with the Turn 8 pants. You'd need every single HA piece/upgraded solidery to make up for the acc loss or you'd have to rely on expensive food to keep your accuracy up.

It's not stupid, it really depends on who is making. If it's not a big deal to you, then go for it. But 1% is way overstating what 11-19 secondary stats are going to contribute. It certainly doesn't make the weapon worthless (or even that much worse) if you choose the vastly cheaper option.
Also depends on what stats you're talking about. 11 is just if you're maxing one stat and not doing tier IV for any other. Like Parry/Acc (popular for tanks). If you want the popular dps setup of crit/det, that's 19 required. So we're probably talking more like 5-6 mil for all that (depending on server). Oh, and throw in RNG and you can probably tack on a mil or more on average.
