No matter how many tier IV you put in your novus, the T9 weapon will still be better.
If you want to go for BiS, its useless to burn tier IV materia on a novus, go for T9 instead.

And it will be the same with the next zodiac stage, there will always be another weapon with a better ilvl.

Yes, that is indeed true. Regardless though, if people go for Novus they should get the best possible options out of it, or they are wasting Time/Gil/whatever.

Depends on your Class... as Caster, it´s 470...

The 9 books are a piece of cake, there is no grind at all. Do roulettes + beast tribes for 3-4 days and you can buy a book. That's about the time it takes to complete one as well with no sweat. Multiply that by 9 and voilà! You have your Animus in little less than a month.

Regarding the notion that Patch 2.3 won't make Animus easier:

It was stated in live letters that both 2.28 and 2.3 would increase the rate at which we gain Myth, and any increase in Myth gathering makes the Animus easier

Regarding the "not using IV's makes the Novus crappy!" argument:

Here's some actual facts on the matter.

We know that there are weights on each stat as compared to a class's Main Stat(STR, INT, MND, whatever). However, Weapons have a stat unique to them: Weapon/Magic Damage. This stat is considered for nearly every class to be worth between 8-9 of your Main Stat alone. With the amount of it that a i110 weapon provides, it combines with the literal amount of Main Stat on the weapon to provide over 95% of a weapon's potential for damage. Secondaries on the weapon, when taken alone, will usually provide less than 3% of a weapon's potential damage even if they're fully optimized. That 1% crit rate you're debating about? It'll make your weapon do 0.1-0.2% more potential damage.

What this means is that secondaries matter less on a weapon than they do on pieces of armor. It's the one place you can put stats that are useful but don't add damage without making that overall equipment slot useless. So, I'd say throw that Parry, Piety, and Accuracy on the weapon. As long as you have the Weapon/Magic Damage of an i110 weapon, the secondaries will not make or break it.

I don't know if it's that people can't read, or I have expressed myself poorly. The first sentence of my thread "what happens with the people that already have their novus or are are very close from it"?
Which means, you may want to do a second novus for a secondary job you also enjoy, but you are NOT going to spend 4-5 millions gil to increase your critical hit rate BY 1% ON YOUR SECONDARY JOB.
I honestly think you guys answer threads without reading and what is worse, thinking.

Alexandrite is a catalyst that you need in order to attach materia to an item that has no materia slots...

see how this could be used in the future?

If I were to get a novus for my other jobs, I'd still make it as good as it can be. I wouldn't see it worth the trouble otherwise.
