So please go play a free mmo and leave the rest of us that are happy with this one to our own devices. This cant possibly be the first time someone has suggested this to you, yet much like everything else you post about, you can't seem to take the hint.1. im not really speculating in any of my posts and i say where i am.
2. apparently now one of the old quests doesn't work anymore because they built a camp ontop of it with rank 60 mobs.
That's just another example like the gathering examples where they failed to position mobs in a way which coincides with things that are already in the game.
Regardless of everything else, 2 is not excusable. Even free MMOs barely make that mistake. And its not like the -first- time they have made it. They put rank 30ish quest mobs in a rank 30 botany leve spot before and never fixed it. Now they have done it to rank 40 leves too and to quests.
I don't get why you think its excusable for a company to make the same mistake OVER and OVER and OVER and OVER again, knowing about it but not caring or having the time to fix it.
FFXIV patches are -sloppy-. They have always been and there hasn't been any significant improvement. If they were not, these boards would not be covered in complaints.

I post a lot of constructive comments and write a lot of guides to help make the game more enjoyable for people (See Sig). I enjoy the game for the most part (other than there being no real viable sp system). But I'm not going to blind myself to the faults of this game. there -ARE- serious issues that would never be tolerated in other games. I don't even think they are really tolerated here given the low populations currently playing. Blind fanboys keep posting "this patch is great" threads to I post the alternative pointing out the serious issues.
It doesn't matter if YOU are happy, because if this game can't charge money at some point for it, it will dissappear. I don't want it to disappear, so It's in my interest as well as yours that the devs notice the mistakes (some of which they have been making for the past year over and over again without fixes, like the gathering leve nodes) and fix them. If they just see positivity, they will assume things are working right and just ruin the game more.
Don't try to make me sound like a troll or hater. I want this game to succeed. The fact that at release i was really one of two or three people that bothered to compile ways for people to SP in a really annoyingly random system, and then tried to explore every corner of the world to give bored people something to do between patches should prove that alone.
I'm not pissed i haven't mastered anything, I know how hate works in this system and im fine with it. And they have been saying the next patch is the "start" almost every patch. The only diff is this one is the start of a "new system". I am personally fine with this patch. But I know anyone starting this game will think its a joke, and people who specialize in gathering will be -really- annoyed. And anyone trying to level up a new job will have a heck of a hard time. and thats MY problem.
I would have been happy if they left the sp and battle system the way it was on day one. at least then you could fight multiple mobs instead of coblyn grinding, leve failing, and prob now leve grinding?
Mew!
Main flaw with this logic: It actually DOES matter if I am happy because happy players equal players willing to pay to play. And if they keep up as they have with this patch I would gladly pay a monthly fee. The point is, if you constantly take the stance that your represent the portion of the players that aren't happy, then logically there will be posts made by people that are happy with the game such as myself. Is it perfect yet? Nope, but where you see unpleasant changes, I see improvement. The difference is I stay because i am happy and you seem to stay so that you feel entitled to complain.I post a lot of constructive comments and write a lot of guides to help make the game more enjoyable for people (See Sig). just because you and a few other fanboys are happy doesn't mean the game is a success. If it was then they would already be charging for it. They are not making this game for you, they are making this game to make a profit. And with the huge number of mistakes they are currently making a profit will not be possible.Main flaw with this logic: It actually DOES matter if I am happy because happy players equal players willing to pay to play. Its pretty clear I'm not the only person that sees flaws with this patch. And if this board is full of people showing they see problems with the patch, it's a pretty good indication that this game would not be very successful if they started charging. If you don't like the things i say then DON'T READ THEM.

So we have established that I am a fanboy for liking the game, and your an ugly troll for hating on it. I love how people think they know what can and can not turn a profit when they really have 0 insight in to the financials of the game.. pathetic.. assumptions are full on ritard!just because you and a few other fanboys are happy doesn't mean the game is a success. this game will turn a profit.. its not going to shut down, it will never go F2P... all of these same doom and gloom messages were the same shit that was said about FFXI.. it made plenty of money for SE over its life span and still continues to profit today.
FFXIV will make plenty of money over its life span and will continue to profit well into the future.. I just wonder if 10 years from now these same self entitled whiners will still be here doom and glooming... "JUST WAIT I PROMSIE BY THE END OF NEXT YEAR YOU WATCH AND SEE SERVERS SHUT DOWN IF THEY DON'T MAKE THE CHANGES THAT I WANT!"
Um you start out by laughing at people for assuming they know how SE's finances work, and then you go on to make wild claims on how SE's finances work...I love how people think they know what can and can not turn a profit when they really have 0 insight in to the financials of the game.. pathetic.. assumptions are full on ritard!

i run a marketing business so i know somewhat about what will make profit and what won't. A game with a 5.0ish average rating that has been out a year and is considered one of the worst MMOs on the market, reviewed poorly 100s of times, will have a VERY difficult time making profit. Even if the game improves, people researching the game (and its an MMO so they will), will see low ratings and poor reviews. A commercial can't change the negative press. The only way to pull off a ps3 relaunch will be mouth-to-mouth. And for that to work the game has to impress the majority of players enough to get their friends playing. Right now its no where near that stage, and SE is alienating players (see like 80% of posts on this forum)I love how people think they know what can and can not turn a profit when they really have 0 insight in to the financials of the game.. pathetic.. assumptions are full on ritard!

You are correct, there are many hurdles that the game will need to overcome. The biggest of which is it's initial failed launch. There's no denying that, but this patch was never supposed to be the fix-it-all patch. This was only the foundation for future patches (as someone else already mentioned, sorry I don't remember who.)i run a marketing business so i know somewhat about what will make profit and what won't. This patch was anything BUT rushed. What we are seeing on the forums are growing pains with the vocal minority that don't want to readily accept that their class/job isn't working as it was previous to this patch. Don't just count the threads on the forums, look inside them too. In every thread I've been reading since the patch came out, it isn't just the OP declaring their frustrations and everyone replying and following suit. In many cases, the OP is declaring their frustrations and the majority of following posts are disagreeing with that person, just like this thread.
1.18 is just the beginning, now we are going to see how the game is altered for 1.19, 1.20, etc. and so forth. The game is NOT ready for primetime. You know that, I know that, SE knows that. They are not going to be releasing the PS3 version of this until it is and at that point, we will most likely have an official re-launch. This patch was just about introducing the base groundwork mechanics for everything else coming to be built off of. I think it would be naive to think otherwise that this was going to somehow be the release-worthy patch that some think it was supposed to be (not necessarily referring you here).
Mages seem to not be happy with the high MP costs of heals. SE isn't going to drop a hotfix to change that. If this is deemed correct and according to their plans, they will most likely put it into 1.19. Same thing with the current state of the dungeon being cluttered with ARC/ARC/ARC/ARC/CON/CON/GLA/GLA formats. How were SE supposed to know before hand that, that would happen? Hell, from what I saw on day one of the patch, you'd be liable to think that ARC class was destroyed by the mighty swing of SE's nerf bat, yet clearly it is not the case. I feel mages will be the same way, but that's purely my opinion. I wouldn't be surprised if we see heals get lowered back down some in cost. As for THM being stripped of the AoE heals and CON being changed to healer du jour, the majority of players voted for clear-cut jobs in the player polls. It had to happen sooner or later. We won't see the full extent until the job system is unveiled a bit more.
Lastly, I don't believe SE is alienating it's players. Sure, the patch has gotten knee-jerk anger threads posted, but what game doesn't have that? Look around at other MMO's. If we're going to decide success of an MMO based upon what their general forums looks like, World of Warcraft must have tanked years ago and is surely a marketing disaster, no?
P.S. Edit - Crediting Vahzl for saying that this patch was the foundation for 1.19 and beyond. Well put chap. Cheers.
