    Problems with FPS

    Hello,

I'm not really sure if I'm on the right section, if not please let me know.

So I was playing with everything on max without any problem with my fps, but for some reason now I barely can reach 20 fps.

I've done my research about it, the main reasons would be my pc being too hot, driver not updated, HD problem, corrupted files, bad hadware.

I checked it all, still nothing seems to be the problem.

I was used to run the game nicely so my hardware should be ok.
The hotest my graphic card reached was 70°C on BF4, proc max at 60°C and mobo at 40°C.
I've download the game 3 times already just to make sure it isn't the files nor the HD.
I formated my PC and installed all drives twice.

Someone knows anything that could be doing the problem? Turn the specs lows doesn't seems to help that much, unless I go way low to the lower graphics then I can reach some stable fps

    My PC specs
    FX-8350
    8GB Ram
    GTX 770

I have no solution but this started happening to me last night too. I'd been running the game on max since release with no problems then when I logged on yesterday my fps was insanely choppy. My graphics card was at 56C but we cooled that down, dont know what it is normally. We turned down some of my graphics (shadow detail and water reflections namely) and it improved my FPS without really making the game look all that different. It was specifically when I was by water that I had issues, once I turned the camera so water wasnt in view (I was in the goblet) FPS shot up.

Do you own a Nvidea card too? Maybe it's something related with Nvidea.
I read at other forums that at release some driver versions could decrease your fps, maybe they just hit again with they last driver =/

    Weird,

Well I've done some tests with another computer, one a bit weaker than mine and it was running pretty decent the game.

    It's an

    Phenom X6 3.2GHz
ATI HD 6850 (Without the proper diver intalled, only with the windows default)
    2GB Ram

At max was running at 40FPS.

I have always been reading that Nvidia cards seems to have some kind of "compatibility" issues with FFXIV. The card looks decent and should run fine, especially given that yours is a GTX 770 it should have no problem going over 50FPS at max 1080p settings.

I can't tell for sure thou, I'm running a Radeon R9 290 OC. Haven't heard of FPS issues with Radeon cards for FFXIV.

I too run on max since release, except my fps problem started around November last year and has been constant since then :/ No problems before that. I tried lowering mine too, to see if maybe that'd help, nothing.
PC is pretty much brand new and can easily run graphic intense games/mmos without a problem.

It just seems to be only XIV that it's doing it on and seeing as how it never did it for the first few months of release, I'm starting to think it's a problem on SE's side. I mean sure, it doesn't really effect gameplay, no lag or anything like that, it's just kinda crappy to look at it skipping frames while moving around / casting / etc, especially considering the amount of money I dropped into this PC to run the new/upcoming stuff on max lol Not to mention it ruins some good CS' with the crap fps :/

Also side note, has anyone else been experiencing increased load times lately? Before I could easily load into Mor Dhona in a second or two, now it seems to take up to 20-30 seconds to load in, even with less people there than a few months ago. Sometimes it gets caught up on random zones, sometimes it's fine. Never had that problem before until about two weeks ago.

Strangely when I got home and logged on today my fps seemed fine. I am checking speedfan right now and my graphics card is only at 30c after being on for a few hours now as opposed to yesterday where only about 10 mins after I turned on my pc and logged in game it overheated suddenly. I don't know if something in the game somehow caused it or it was just total coincidence for me, though it is strange that things ran smooth on max then all of a sudden FPS issues started.

I have 2x GTX 760's in SLI and i havent had any FPS issues so i wouldnt say for sure that its an Nvidia problem. I also have a pc the is running 2x GTX 460's in SLI and that one runs great too. 460's are running at 1920x1080 and the 760's at 2560x1080.

Edit: Both on max settings btw.

Check your graphics card drivers. Most people play either with some outdated driver or they install the new on top of the old and this creates problems some times. Download the latest stable driver from Nvidia site or AMD depending on your card. Uninstall your old driver restart PC and install the new one.
