    Coil lockouts have been badly implemented since day 1. Make no mistake that the clear lockout (rather than a loot lockout) is there to slow our progress in coil by only being able to run it (and practice it) a limited number of times per week. It creates a divide in the community, it sections off groups into 8 man statics, and back to the point of this thread, there are no other events that really counteract these issues.

    2.3 content need to be excellent, I've lost motivation to do coil (too much effort, not enough reward) and there isn't much joy in other activities at the moment. My sub is kinda in the balance, the current joyless nature of this game has really been highlighted by picking up some bargains in the Steam sale.

    So the biggest separation here is that it sounds like the OP is essentially asking for more Coil, or put differently, horizontal progression. They want other, max tier, bleeding edge content to do.

    End game encompasses way more then that though. Technically, everything you can only do at max level is 'end game' content. Max level dungeons, CT, and Coil, as well as the Relic/Atma line, *star crafting, and unspoiled node gathering. Frontlines will also be end game content, and further GC ranks might be as well, though as they might not add those until a level cap increase, it's hard to say. Same with Gold Saucer, except we have 'no idea' what to expect from that.

    There's also quasi-end game content; stuff that you're likely to almost certainly 'going' to do at end game, but which could be done a bit sooner. Like leveling your Chocobo, maxing your beast tribe reputations, or leveling alternate battle/crafting/gathering classes (as you've technically hit end game once you max one battle class).

    So yeah, I'm all for getting more end game content, as I love having more to do with my character. They're working on that though with everything they add, so it's not really a problem.

    It's actually many years after XI launch that alternatives to getting gear were made available. When you actually think about the situation at the time, I think you'd enjoy the current lock outs more. Dynamis, open world HNMs, and Sky were relevant end game content for years before Sea/Limbus/Salvage/etc were made available. So just banking on those 3 content sources (primarily), you really didn't have much to go on. Especially if you take into account those HNMs being open world... you didn't get claim? That potentially 24hr wait just turned into a possible 48hr wait (4-7 days more if you were hopeful on the KB/Aspi/Nid claim). It didn't help that the gear that dropped from any given source was nowhere near the best for many jobs

    Assuming you're being 100% truthful about what you want, it's not the lockout that's your problem, it's the progression methods. If the ilvl of gear from dungeons or CT were around the same as Coil, it'd offer you a lot more to do wouldn't it?

    If it rewards you with loot lower than the highest ilvl im all for it, highest tier gear should always have restrictions, can't have everyone running around in them since it will ruin the point of the achievement. The new CT will bring some fresh air for a month or so, its just the other 3 months before 2.4 I'm worried about.

    For players like you, what do you enjoy? If the only thing you enjoy is endgame gear rewards, and everything else is meaningless, you're not playing the right game. I highly recommend that if that is the case, you do unsub and either play another MMORPG that has years of established content for you to indulge, or you just move on. I'm being serious on that btw.

    So after reading the various threads on alternative gear progression and alternative end game, without turn lock outs and favoring loot lock outs, how about this?

    24 man full pre-made end game raid
    => This means that difficulty will be on par with current coil
    => As a reward of same difficulty, it will grant loot of current highest ilvl
    => Grants current tomestone and previous tomestone (such as soldiery + myth)

    No entrance lock outs, but loot lock out. However, players need to address SE's concerns that one will end up being able to gear up faster that SE wants it to be and also SE's issues of mercenaries selling coil.

    => 10% Chance that a token will drop for the entire of 24 persons
    => Token can be exchanged with Rowena with any top ilvl gear of your choice
    => Once you receive token, you cannot receive it again until the next weekly reset

    Well yeah, I said quite clearly that I'm getting more enjoyment out of other games, way to go there Sherlock. It's not about end game rewards at all, I'd be doing coil if that was the case. If you're white-knighting the game then good for you!. But, It's about having things to do in game that aren't needlessly tedious, and maybe, just maybe, bring the community together rather than splitting it in two.

    Are you somehow trying to suggest that at the current point in time, we're not playing the dregs of the content from 2.2 and 2.28 until the next patch?

    I've been playing since release. My options at the moment until 2.3 comes out:
    - Animus, I've been doing this, but running Expert roulette every day is getting old. FATE farming: No thanks, re-hashed old content. Myth farming: No thanks, re-hashed old content.
    - Coil2, finding a static again, probably making minimal progress, and having the static fall apart. For what? Gear to run more coil with: No thanks, not worth it.
    - Fight the RNG of bad DF groups in Moogle EX: No, thanks.
    - Grind boring beast quests for my remaining 2 tribes: No, thanks.
    - I've been crafting/gathering since release and don't need the money: No, thanks.

    Don't get me wrong, I've enjoyed just about every aspect of the game over the past 10 months, more so than any other MMO in the last few years. It's just it's all very old and tired at this point.
