If the player is deaf, using a voice-chat program is out of the question, for obvious reasons. >__>I don't know why you think it's so scary honestly. I use Ventrilo with a group of people I have only known through Ventrilo for over 10 years (Since Final Fantasy 11 came out on Playstation 2) We all live in separate states but that hasn't hurt our friendship in the slightest. Some audio servers are nothing but grind junkies i'll admit I got lucky winding up with the server I am with now. All I can say to you is just give it a try. Maybe the people are bad and maybe they are not. You won't know where the train is going until you jump on it.
The fear is being immediately kicked out of a raid group if they end up being honest about it because some players only see raiding one way.
