Prospective Player Question About Playing on Two Platforms

For what I know, seeing an interview with some of FFXIV development people, it's the same account! I'm hoping it two, since I'm about to get a PS4 soon and I'm playing it on PC today.

Yes, you login to your Square Enix Account on all platforms, so your character's information is available from any of them. This includes what server you are on. The only conditions that are a detriment to playing on multiple platforms is that currently, any macro, hotbar, or Gear Set settings are not saved across platforms. In other words, they are stored locally on your machine, so you need to re-do, or update them. This is in the works to be changed down the line, but it doesn't really stop you from playing, just an inconvenience.

I wouldn't think that method would be able to work with a PS4 though, you probably wouldn't even have access to see your character data much less have the ability to set up a symbiotic link or install a cloud-based software on it.

But for different computers it's been a God-send for me because I often switch between two computers. Having all my gear sets, hotbars, and key-binds automatically transfer has been amazing.
