Really? The most commonly used word for one of the most common and regular activities of most creatures on this planet is deemed reproachable? When was the last time any of us used "defecate?"

Coarse? Well, yes, perhaps... which is the point of using it to depict toughened coarseness in the characters mentioned.

If a game is truly mature, it doesn't necessarily need "adult" language. There are many games that cover serious topics, from war to racism, without blood and guts or sexuality and swearing. So I hardly care if there's the occasional swearing NPC in FFXIV, swearing and sexuality (or blood and guts, see inane games like Splatterhouse) really has no bearing on whether, ultimately, a game feels "adult" and "mature".

And FFXIV is a "fantasy" game anyway. I'm already throwing spells, holding literally thousands of items in my inventory, playing invented races fighting invented creatures, casting spells and suddenly being healthy after having my face ripped off, getting brought back to life, teleporting... I'm not necessarily against it per say, just not convinced throwing out the occasional swear word really makes it feel that much more "real".

Not like I really care this much. It's pretty silly IMO.

But anyways, I believe "Online interactions" is refering to other players. And not the ingame NPC's. Like Mr.OP stated.
