I agree - FFXI had a great seek party system that could only be further enhanced now. What I liked about the FFXI system that this system is very much lacking:

    1) Easy, clear way to search for party members for numerous types of tasks in any class/rank/faction etc - what we have now is neither easy nor clear
    2) seek flags made it visibly obvious that someone wanted to party with you - you could see it if you were in range of the player or on a search - this was great!!! (The flag feature perhaps could be enhanced here by allowing players to toggle on/off the flag's appearance, if they felt it was obtrusive to their immersion in the game.)
    3) you could leave a search comment explaining certain details that were very helpful to a party leader such as which role the player was willing/unwilling to fill, how close the player is to the next rank, whether or not the player had access to certain areas (such as already having dungeon access here... or still needing it), or any reason

Areas that FFXI's system could have used some help:
    1) auto group was clunky - it sure would be nice to be able to auto group in areas where you really need to, such as behest camps
    2) some additional search options would be nice - such as a checklist of roles to fill, "front line" "sideline" "back line" so party leaders can search for all players willing to play a "back line" job for example. Just searching by class doesn't always accomplish this, especially with hybrid classes and player customization/playing style

While I understand that not everything we had in FFXI needs to be copied over to this game, that particular seek party system really worked well and still holds up today against other games.

This game isn't ever going to function properly unless we get a SIMPLE party search system similar to FFXI. I have no idea how the Devs haven't realized this by now, but the longer they leave it the worst it will get!

Never mind announcing your fixing UI visibility, if your taking SP down for group play then please help us to form parties easier!
    This is great talkin man!

I'd sign this a thousand times over, the one thing ffxi had going for it was the EASY lfg system, why fix what's not broken? Do away with this shitty system, make it like the old! Instead of having search comments, have a LFG-menu where you set your LFG bubble to different colors for different objectives... (Experience-red, Levequest-green, Dungeon-gold, Other-white)
then just have the notation system from before....

great post, every1 hit the like button! If they listen to the community then we can make this happen! Don't b lazy, log-in and click 'like'!!!

Totally agree. If it isn't broken you can't fix it. You can play with it and possibly make it worse. But at best you'll achieve the same functionality using a different approach (2 different toasters that make the same waffles in the same amount of time). Why go through that hassle? FFXI party search is smooooth...

i was soloing last night and wanted to make a thread...

All the devs really need to do to make the system work is add level specifics... i see someone making a party but have no clue of lvl, place or anything. it would also be nice to have a plain old seeking function so party leaders can find u and not other way around...the whole widget and interface are there, they just have to add those 2 things and it could work if ppl got into it.
i like what Deminia said because it was exactly what i was thinking. ff11 had a great working system but i would actually like something new as long as it worked...the system we have now doesn't work and it would never allow me to play in party's with non English speaking players unless i spent time auto translating my lvl, job and whereabouts over and over.

basically i like the interface with choice of what type of party it is, i just have no clue why they wouldnt add level range and other KEY specifics. add that and a seeking button function(also with lvl/job and whereabouts) and i will finally be able to leave ul dah and the ppl yelling there. Keep it simple, fun and nice though with some cool.

we need to bump this topic from time to time till they fix it with something usable...i hate soloing with my 36con for 3k an hour. this is after 1.18

i was also just thinking that they could also easily add it to wear u can seek for a certain DoH(disciple of hand) job with certain lvl...say u need something fixed or made...would benefit the DoH jobs, not sure if it would help or hurt economy.

on top of that why not help DoL(disciple of land) jobs by letting ppl set up a request for certain materials from them...so u can find certain MATS without having to lvl DoL job. might be weird to see someone looking for kukuru beans or something at first but right now i cant find any for sale, just an example. only take like rank 15 bot to get them. just a fun idea though, could always just shout for DoH and DoL stuff.

    Strongly agree!!

The current party search system is horrible. Needs to be completely redone and be very simple and efficient. Please fix this asap! Too frustrating the way it is atm and this is a key element in any MMORPG. FFXI worked just fine, and im sure this can be improved even more than XI.
