I think it has something to do with minions having a tie-in with companions, for some unusual reason. Ever noticed that you can't have a minion out while you have your bird summoned? It's such an unusual restriction.
OMG YES!

OMG YES!
I need to name my Wind-up Succubus!
Señor Bubblypots needs his name affirmed!
As much as you give freedom to players with names (just have to see actual ones that even GMs asked to be changed)
The trolling minority *ahem* would find your idea blissful.
I am therefore against that suggestion, sadly.
GMs and the staff already has their hands full (one tend to believe)From Me ^^
However, I'm vouching to have minions everywhere where we can roam, be it inside our rooms, houses, dungeons. If they could be affected by AoE and give different pose before dying and then being unable to re-summon until 24 hours, that would be super nice to see.
So to have them double-check all the names of your minions to see if they are "gamely correct", would take lots of the few resources SE has.
Tearbomb and Stinkbomb need their identities Solidified!!!!

Nice names... see I wish I could see those in-game xD

OH GOD YEEEEES

Actually, the problem with minions in dungeons was targeting. In the Beta you couldn't restrict what you targeted so sometimes in the dungeon you'd target someone's minion instead of, say, the monsters you wanted to kill. This got really bad when they added back in controller support. So, no more minions in dungeons. They since added in selective targeting so it's not an issue anymore, assuming people know that you can restrict selective targeting to ignore minions.
SE is this on your radar?
