    Economy crashers

Since a few days, on Ragnarok, someone decided to try and crash the Culinarian market for some reasons.

He's basically selling insane amount of 2stars HQ food to the point you're losing money if you're buying mats off AH, or you'd rather sell the raw materials if you're gathering them forcing me and some fellow culinarians i know to buy his whole stock in order to avoid a crash of the market.

We attempted to talk with him, however he only connect to craft in "busy", preventing any tells and/or any other form of communication, also ignoring whatever we say in the /say chat.

We also attempted calling a GM as this kind of behaviour sounded extremly suspicious, to what they answered player were allowed to play with the market how they want.

Are other servers affected by that kind of plague as well? Is there really nothing to do to stop this kind of player? I'm personally losing money everyday and cant sell my stock because of this single player...

Could just be a player who saved up a few million gil with the goal of crashing and then dominating your food market for the short term. I've done it with materia a few times, seems like too much work to do it with food TBH. He'll probably raise the prices over the next few days until he makes 100-200 gil per sale and then go until prices hit what they were before he began his campaign. He's just trying to bully the market is all.

Well he will not keep going like that forever. At some point he'll run out of money.

The problem with FFXIV's economy is that everyone seems to think that there is no room for anyone else in a market. So they force the prices down to nothing to bully people out, then pull the prices back up while buying all the cheaper stuff others listed for super low. So they profit on their stuff and other other people's stuff. Funnily enough, they tried that with some foods on Balmung and the prices never rose back up. Didn't bother me any because I gather all my own mats, so I have 100% profit.

Yeah I made an alt on Balmung, was amazed that 2 star hq food goes for 2k. There are so many characters with all 50s on balmung though (being the biggest server on the shard, and legacy,) so I'm not too surprised that they are so cheap considering the amount of players who gather all their own mats too.

If I read correctly, you wanted the market being forced on the prices you want, and pissed off that someone else is ruining your (and your friends) plans. So you called a GM for help and got a polite "are u serious? lolnope" answer, and you now asking help here on the issue?

I think free market needs be kept free, and any syndicate cannot decide what prices must be on things.

So you find normal someone that sell something that takes 1.8k to craft for 1.5k? He's not ruining my plans, he's trying to crash the market for his own interest...

The fact that something costs YOU 1.8k doesn't mean that it cost the same anyone else! Not everyone is buying crafting mats, many serious crafters are either fully selfsufficient or are trading mats in large quatities at bulk outside of the Market Boards or even in barters so your preposition that he / she is trying to "crash" the markets at loss is most likely incorrect.
