Although I have no problems crafting HQ 3* gear with the equipment the game currently has to offer, 2.3 does seem like the perfect time to bring in the i70 armor for crafters. Have these new sets been announced yet, or have they yet to be announced?

It's a terrible time for i70 crafter gear.
We need another level of craftable stuff before i70 crafting gear makes sense.

True. If they just release Level 70 armors for DOH, everybody will most probably be able to HQ Master receipies. I can only imagine it to come when they introduce a tier above the Master recipies. But didn't they say Level 90 accessoires are around the corner? Maybe that could work.
It would sure piss off all the crafters that overmelded their gear, just to tell them it's obsolete in a couple weeks. Bless the treadmill ...
Hopefully they'll release i60 or i65 gear. Hopefully it'll be by 2.4, but that's just wishful thinking...
Well I am assuming with the increasing the difficulty of crafting from here forward yoshi plans on re introducing 1.0/beta crafting elements where you can have elemental spots pop up randomly along side the sphere color or a new sphere type that reduces progress made if it appears so there is a chance new gear will come up in 2.35 with a stat that effects the stability of the element or the orb. But as of right now adding new gear similar to the previous growth similar to the new tool and hat would just make the hardest crafts easier which brings us back to no challenge in crafting. You could say the same about combat but they still have to content with wipe mechanics crafting doesn't technically have instant fail conditions even though hasty hand some times sure seems like it is.

The way they did this last big patch, in terms of crafting was "just right." (Well, I wish they added i90 craftable accessories, but that'd be overpowered due to VIT melding). With the right classes/abilities/rotation/gear and HQ components when possible, nothing is truly 100% guaranteed. Which is how crafting SHOULD be. I've made a LOT of 3-star items. Best part that I've seen is that even the NQ mess-ups are still very valuable for those that want to glamour it. Hell, I think my first Saurian Shirt of Aiming wound up NQ (98%) and still sold for double the material costs.
This is an MMO. At some stage, everything we did will be rendered useless and you have to start from scratch. I agree, for DOH and DOL it will hurt because you do not get them overmelded in a short period of time. But there will be a Patch where all left for us to do is to get a Materia out of our DOH/DOL gear. And most probably it will be a Resistance type of Materia to smack you in your face for the 5 painful melds you did lol. Happened with one of my DOL hats already. 5 melds and Earth Resistance III came out of it. The other 2 gave me a SP+3 Materia. Hell Yes!.
Until they introduce 4 stars items, i don't see the point of release new crafter gear.
There is no reason to upgrade anything until the items we can make are worth the effort.
And I don't see that being the case anytime soon.
