In complete agreement, but unfortunately, when the kid grows up, s/he is the one that gets the free meals or store credit (despite being well beyond a days' limit). They make a huge fuss at the store counter, in the restaurant, scream and shout.. the manager to appease this person just offers something for free. I have always hated this kind of thing.
