I work. You may have heard of this. It's where you leave your home to earn money to pay for life needs as well as internet, and FFXIV.
If you had joined a party that said "learning party" and someone harassed you for not knowing what to do, then that would have been on them and I'd be on your side here. But you joined a non descriptive PF group and mentioned you had no experience and the attitude was negative, the harassment you received is on you for staying. Expecting others to use their time to cater to your needs, now that is what I would call egocentric. You don't get my sympathy.
Amen brother. His "guides" are drivel. I wouldn't go as far as shutting down his Youtube channel. he should still to commentary
because his "guides" are utter trash and do breed Kool-aid drinkers.
I don't mind explaining the fight, it's the ones who think they are too good to bother explaining and there is a lot of them.
instead of taking about 30 seconds to explain, they want someone to go watch a 4-5 minute video explaining everything and the fight could be done with in a few minutes after explaining.
Having an opinion does not make you right or wrong, it simply means you have an opinion. Don't get irritated when people don't agree.
Breed bad players, seriously? There are plenty of good and bad players in this game, it has nothing to do with Mrhappy's videos. I've watched Mrhappy's videos and I'm not a "bad player".
Some people like to have a peek into something before diving in, especially with a toxic community that expects no one to be new to anything that isn't brand new at the time.
You should always value your own experiences over someone else's guidance when it comes to this, but going so far as to say he breeds bad players and his account should be shut down is ridiculous. Especially when he produces great content outside of guides, as well as supporting charities and overall just being a nice guy to talk to.
Don't want it. Never desired it. From you or anyone. If you read the OP it's clearly stated that understanding and cooperation is the goal, not sympathy. Further, in my follow-up, I admitted partial culpability.

Slightly off topic; when static instances are no longer the norm, and dynamic (random) scenarios become the highest echelons of conquest for treasure, players will have to learn a fight every time they fight. Those of you who rely so heavily on Youtube to guide you, will be exposed.
Pointing the blame at his videos, which I still fail to see how they're warranted as "bad", is essentially a reaction of said "Kool-aid drinkers". Some of them are outdated, a few might actually be categorized as "bad" or misinformed, but that doesn't exactly say that as a whole they're "utter trash". So I'm guessing his videos really did breed that sort of player you describe negatively, as I seem to be referring to one. >.> Funny how that works.
Always always ALWAYS point the blame for bad things at the person who does them (in this case, the player that fails to adapt to play better). Don't find a scapegoat for the people that fail to adapt or interpret information correctly. As in doing so, you're showing you lack the ability to perceive personal conduct, essentially that you're no better than the typical mouth-breather. That, to the rest of us, is a situation that is just begging to be mocked. It's like the argument that video games breed murderers, where it just ignores so much logic to point blame at something that doesn't deserve it.

If you really want that you could try to report him for copyright infringement, just saying.
That said. I disagree. There are worse causes for bad players (Arrogance, lagging and generally being undergeared)

I'm totally fine with someone not wanting to watch youtube to join parties. If the party finder group says "Farm party" though, that's the ones they should avoid. If they still insist upon joining a party like that, it's best to give a heads up. Most people would be willing to help you learn it but pretending you already know the fight gets old and unless it's mythflox it's going to be pretty obvious you don't.
When I form "farm party" groups in party finder, I will allow one or two new players in if they are polite and don't try to fake me out. It's easier to carry maybe 1-2 people just so long as the rest know what they are doing.
But honestly though, in the end, what is the difference of soliciting the strat from people in game versus asking Mr. Happy? If you wanna go totally cold turkey, I suggest you only join a learning party with seven others that feel the same way and wouldn't "accidentally" give you any tips that might spoil your fun of figuring it out yourself.
