T5 is a different animal, though. I am a pro at dealing with fireballs, conflags, and divebombs. So when I put up a PF for a learning party, I spent weeks and weeks teaching others that first half of the fight.

Now, sure, I say "learning party - must be experienced beyond divebombs", but how do you think that works out?

Why do people even care who does or does not like watching guides? Each group can just stick to playing with their side. Fix'd. /shimmies away.

DF is a free for all. If you go in there expecting anything short of a drunken brawl, you're gonna have a bad time.

Because both sides are impatient and will hop to the other group from time to time.
Like the numerous guys who join learning parties/df somehow expecting a one-shot... mind boggling.

I guess they believe fights are too scripted and should be picked up in a snap...

Only videos I ever watched were for T5 and T8. This game doesn't really need people to watch videos but if you don't at least specifically join a learning party or play in a static. Other players don't need to deal with "learning" in a clear or farm party.

Amen to that brother. I'm at the point where if I can't run content with my FC, then I'd rather play WoW. I'd rather run content with people whom I trust in this game

I look at it this way.
I love to wing it in content. I'll mention I haven't done a fight before, of its some serious fight, otherwise I just do my job and keep everyone alive.

    Anyways it's ether -

    A. it's a pre formed "party finder" group that asks for it, then sure, follow their rules(I'll never join them because I hate the idea of watching YouTube videos on it)

    Or

    B. It's DF and there's no reason to conform to the request of a douch for df. If he wants people to watch YouTube, be can go make a pf group.

Is it really that hard to just not fight about it? Both sides have valid points, DF is random, who knows what side people will be on? Why not just respect both, and leave it alone. PF is there to make specific PT's to your specifications, DF is for those who either don't care if someone is new, or are practicing.

I generally watch guides as a courtesy to my group. Chances are, the group is already aware of the dungeon and how to run it, and my messing up will only cause tensions to flare. So, I usually watch the video first and then warn everyone when I start that it's my first time and I have seen the video, since just watching the video doesn't mean I'll necessarily do everything right the first time.

I just consider it common courtesy.

Can I just point out this was the OP's first post over four hours ago and they have yet to make a response or another post anywhere else on the forums.

The troll is strong in this one.

I joined the group via nondescript PF. I was the first to sign on, and 6 others joined the group afterwards. I clearly communicated to the PL that I had "zero experience" with the fight (Garuda Ex) but I was "willing to learn". To which he replied "np." I don't mean to exaggerate my non-culpability, since I did not bring this up again with the rest of the group prior to the fight. It was implied, in my mind, however, when the PL explained the first portion of the fight in general terms.

That said, I didn't start this discussion to assign blame.

Expectations from PF need to be clearly outlined. Expectations from DF need to be lowered. Expecting anyone to learn a fight (a craft, a quest) outside the game is egocentric.
