There is nothing wrong with joining a learning party. I said it as an advice because I've been there too.
Joined T5 through DF completely blind. Everyone was doing the perfect dance and I was kissing the floor. 2 wipes after, nobody said anything but I felt bad and left. There was no point for me to stay there and I couldn't expect from 7 strangers to spend and hour of their time teaching me.
I joined a learning party, no stress whatsoever, no feeling bad. I had a great time playing with other noobs like me and got out of it more experienced with the fight.
Not saying there is anything wrong in joining a learning party, on the contrary, I believe it is often more enjoyable for the inexperienced, as you said.
My point was just that it shouldn't be mandatory to be allowed to play the game, and you shouldn't get any grief over it. But it is a good advice, yes
