    Question for the OP...

How did you enter the content?

    - If you entered via DF, then I agree with you. There is no pre-req for watching Youtube videos prior to clicking on DF.

    - If you created or joined a PF group labeled as a learning group, I still agree with you. No pre-req for watching Youtube videos before entering a learning group on PF.

    - If you joined a PF group that required kill expereince of experience of the battle, then I think you're in the wrong.

I joined the group via nondescript PF. I was the first to sign on, and 6 others joined the group afterwards. I clearly communicated to the PL that I had "zero experience" with the fight (Garuda Ex) but I was "willing to learn". To which he replied "np." I don't mean to exaggerate my non-culpability, since I did not bring this up again with the rest of the group prior to the fight. It was implied, in my mind, however, when the PL explained the first portion of the fight in general terms.

That said, I didn't start this discussion to assign blame.

Expectations from PF need to be clearly outlined. Expectations from DF need to be lowered. Expecting anyone to learn a fight (a craft, a quest) outside the game is egocentric.

If you had joined a party that said "learning party" and someone harassed you for not knowing what to do, then that would have been on them and I'd be on your side here. But you joined a non descriptive PF group and mentioned you had no experience and the attitude was negative, the harassment you received is on you for staying. Expecting others to use their time to cater to your needs, now that is what I would call egocentric. You don't get my sympathy.

Don't want it. Never desired it. From you or anyone. If you read the OP it's clearly stated that understanding and cooperation is the goal, not sympathy. Further, in my follow-up, I admitted partial culpability.

    ---------

Slightly off topic; when static instances are no longer the norm, and dynamic (random) scenarios become the highest echelons of conquest for treasure, players will have to learn a fight every time they fight. Those of you who rely so heavily on Youtube to guide you, will be exposed.

If you go into a group and they are negative about your lack of experience, and they are harsh on you when you mess up, that is your fault. You can not force cooperation on anyone and it's egocentric in of itself to expect others to cater to you. Join learning groups and this can all be avoided.

If you still don't see my point, look at your own accusations then your proposed solution and see the hypocrisy. "I don't like catering to your needs so you need to cater to my needs" This is how I read your OP.
