That's why I'm planning on drowning myself in information when I get around to it. I did a couple of Heroics (which are a joke btw) and during the final bosses on both I had no idea wtf was going on, yet stayed alive and ended at 2nd top DPS. It was a headache not knowing wtf to do

I'm nowhere near geared for the current final raid, but I have plenty of time to gear up

If you go into a group and they are negative about your lack of experience, and they are harsh on you when you mess up, that is your fault. You can not force cooperation on anyone and it's egocentric in of itself to expect others to cater to you. Join learning groups and this can all be avoided.

If you still don't see my point, look at your own accusations then your proposed solution and see the hypocrisy. "I don't like catering to your needs so you need to cater to my needs" This is how I read your OP.

    No thank you.

I understand that some folks desire to quickly dispatch end-game bosses. And for this, seasoned, experienced teammates who "know the fight" are preferable. However; there are many solid, knowledgeable, players who want to have their experiences IN GAME, and not second hand from Mr. Happy.

If you feel like these players are "wasting your time" by battle trial and error/not watching the youtube tutorial, I certainly appreciate your plight. I would also appreciate understanding, and cooperation with those who would rather learn the fight for themselves, and not waste time watching youtube.

After all, FFXIV is a monthly subscription to play. It's free to watch on youtube, but I'm payed up through June - I'll play.

I'm a new player, but I also played FFXI for so many years I've abandoned this mentality. Back when your Sky NMs despawned if you wiped and took too long to recover, or making your party wipe enough times from not knowing your role cost them more than item durability, some of them lost the level they needed to equip the gear they had to have to even do the fight.

When it comes to working with a group of random people this method can't hold up. You'll find yourself kicked out of parties. I can also think of parts of this game that simply don't explain why you died. Like Mortal Ray in The Sunken Temple of Qarn. If no one told you to stand on the glowing tile to clear doom how many times is your SCH or WHM going to have to pick you up off the floor before you do? Or knowing where to hide from Garuda's shriek. There are too many things in this game that can kill your whole party if you don't know what you're doing ahead of time.

If you want to practice and learn a fight the good old fashioned way, use the DF, join a PF learning party, create a PF learning party. Though the DF is a crap-shoot of whether or not you will get understanding people, or people that treat you like s**t for not knowing a fight.

Don't do something like join an "experienced" party, a farm party, or a clear party.

What about those of us who occasionally get invited by an FC (and the Party Leaders) to a Turn 5 or similar party that they have never been on. Said Party is being advertised as a "Learning Party" in Party Finder. This invitation had come at the last minute as the party was filling it's last two slots, and so we don't have time to look up a Youtube Video on how to do the fight before the fight is run. And promptly after arriving in the Party someone (who isn't the leader of the party, but who is the Tank) asks if we have ever done the fight before or looked it up on youtube. We honestly answer "No, but we are a healer so how hard can it be to keep people alive?" and this person promptly says "I call a wipe."

And then when the party wipes through no fault of the Healer in question, rather it is because the Tank can't keep aggro successfully, and people didn't properly explain the fight the first time, the Tank throws a hissy fit and promptly leaves the party.

Again, remember, this was supposed to be a learning party. How is this kind of attitude fair to the people trying to learn the fight the way that it was intended that people learn the fight, by trial and error?

I get pissed off when someone goes into a fight blind because they don't want to "waste" time watching youtube videos and then the first thing they expect is for everybody to spend the next 5-10 minutes and more time after each wipe explaining everything to them. People have things to do and you are holding up the progression of the collective by being stubborn and a non asset to the group. Just like anything in life you want to accomplish you learn all you can about it if the information is out there. you aren't trailblazing and going for world firsts or else you be doing all of these events with a static. Grow up or go and smell some flowers, frolic through the shroud with your minion and do a little harvesting or something. End game isn't for you son.
