Imo ppl tend to copy the vids with the clearest anslysis of the fight/ easiest & less gimmicky way of doing the fight.
Ppl want to watch vids so that when they go into fights they will go from
Younoob to youpro after a few tries/ wipes.
I never watch youtube. I feel it takes too long and you don't really get a feel for the abilities until you have personally felt them - but that doesn't mean I don't look at a guide before going in. Most guides are condensed with "need to know" information, and that's enough to get you through the really devastating mechanics. If you aren't willing to take the 2 minutes to do a guide search and glance at the boss's abilities, you do deserve to be kicked. A MINIMUM of effort is what people are looking for, not for you to wipe 5 times to the same mechanic because you are "learning" it instead of "watching" for it.

All in all, if I'm being told to watch a vid I'm bound to say no for two reasons.
1. I don't learn from videos. I learn at the same rate, if not faster when actually experiencing the thing.
2. I prefer to read guides, if I'm forced to.
That being said, when I'm learning, I only go with my FC or I will make a PF specifically stating I have not watched vids and people do not have to watch vids or read guides to join when learning.
However, very interested in creating a Dragoon guide sooner or later for many various situations/fights.

Mrhappy's videos are designed to convey understanding of each aspect of the fight. The moves and actions, followed with a demonstration of a sucesssful fight.
Some guide are less detailed than that and offer a more succinct instruction.
Depending on the fight and the player one is more useful than the other.
But nothing beats actually going yourself and talking to others. What would have taken 3 minutes to explain with charts and a video can be conveyed with a "I got door signs" and "run out to the white and run back in"
I don't know why this has suddenly turned into an attack on content providers @ youtube and twitch.
There is absolutely nothing wrong with what they do. Their guides are meant to familiarize you with a fight and give you a rough idea on how to deal with the mechanics. They are not the ultimate "how to" guides. How you and your group handles a fight and its mechanics is up to you and your group dynamic. Both Mr. Happy and MTQcapture, for example, are just fine in doing what they do.

It's just an issue created by the community itself, like many other issues that people try to get SE to "fix".
In terms of MMOs, video guides didn't become very popular until Tankspot started doing videos for WoW. It became the norm in that game to have DBM installed to yell in your ear everytime an ability is coming and to watch the Tankspot video to know what you're doing.
In the days prior to WoW, there were no community enforced requirements like these. People just kept attempting things until they completed it. Eventually some written guides would come out, but people seemed more patient several years ago, opposed to now where one wipe and people flip out and drop the group.
Yeah, I'm an old FFXI player, this is the first game I've actually seen video guides used for. Personally, for the fights I've watched vids on, I've found beneficial for actually seeing the boss mechanics in action. Before, in FFXI, all I really had access to was text guides.
Personally, I don't have a problem with youtube or twitch content providers. I also don't see the difference in using a video guide or a text guide. The only difference is the avenue which the guide is being provided.

^^
It seems like your argument is more about players deciding that there is only one true method than Mrhappy claiming so. I dont see how you can blame him for that. Kind of the whole gun control thing you know.
It's been months since I cleared titan ex so I will need to watch the video again. Currently at work now.
