Thread: SP Differences - Pre and Post 1.18

Am I playing the same patch? I'm a r31 Archer and was doing some r30 leves and was getting around 1-200 sp a kill and then end SP bonus was between 1,900-2.300 SP. I'm also loving the increase in SP DoL gets. No more grinding for hours just to get one rank! For example as a rank 27 Botanist I was getting around 150 sp at a time. Now on the same trees I get over 500 sp.

As for the SP, I'll give doing the lvl 20 leves a try. Hopefully I can get around what you're reporting, 1900-2300SP as a bonus.

Using a Company Issued scroll (can't remember the full name) that is bought from your respective Grand Company I was getting over 800sp on a normal gather and then the ones like Unknotted Mahogany Log I got over 4k SP a gather.

People are complaining you get too little; which I don't see at all. But DoL just might get too much know. A whole rank in less than an hour seems a bit fast. Then again maybe it was too slow?

I can understand the sp that leve mobs give to be the same as normal mobs. But what I can't understand is the "bonus" sp you get at the end of the leve only reaching 200-300. Perhaps I'm doing this wrong. Am I overleveled on the leves I have? I didn't think a rank 14 doing rank 10 leves was that much of a gap (as opposed to doing lvl 20 ones as a rank 14). Especially considering the exp jump that comes around the mid-20s, which means I'll need even MORE exp to hit the next level.

I can't speak to Guardian Aspect -- since I haven't tried it yet -- but a few things stick out:

1) **EDIT** -- Sorry, looks like I was wrong about the levels you can switch camps. Apparently in 1.18, they changed it to levels that end in -5. So please ignore the paragraph below this one. Sorry about that!

You can generally move to the next higher level camp at levels that end in -3. So at 13, you should start doing leves at the r20 camps. At 23, you should start doing leves at the r30 camps. And at 33, you should start doing the leves at r40 camps. (There aren't yet any r50 camps, so you're stuck at r40 camps all the way to 50.)

2) Leve rewards apparently vary depending on several things: the difficulty (i.e., the number of stars), the number of leve links, and the speed with which you finish the leve.

3) The SP you get for individual mobs increases depending on how much higher their rank is compared to yours. The max SP you can get is if the mob is 10 ranks higher than yours. So you want to run the leve on the highest possible number of stars that you can finish, so that the mobs will be 10 levels higher than you. That way, you'll get the most SP possible from each of the leve mobs.

If it sounds like all those things point to doing leves in parties, well, you're right. Seriously, though. Try joining a Linkshell and running leves with them. It's much, much more fun than soloing, the rewards are much better, and you're going to level faster. But the most important thing is the fun. If you get in a good LS, you're going to have more fun, which is going to keep you coming back for longer, and it's going to make it worthwhile to get through those higher levels.

I love everything else. The auto-attack is pretty much what I expected, and I don't mind the recast times (they seem to mesh pretty well). But the SP, especially considering I'm a low level and getting such low amounts, is worrying. I mean, it wouldn't be an issue if we could just keep picking up leves over and over without a limit... but after fifteen or so leves you're stuck grinding on mobs or crafting.

Opinions? Tips?

Glad to hear you're enjoying it.

Another way to get SP -- especially after patch 1.18, and into the future -- will be quests. You can now get SP from main storyline quests, job quests, and side quests. There are lists of side quests that you can do, if you search for them. Those give SP, gear, and other rewards. And there's always behest. (Although I have no idea how well it works after patch 1.18.)

And, of course, at rank 25, you can start entering the new dungeons!

Regardless, even though grinding might sound boring, get in a good linkshell, and it can be a blast. And with auto-attack, you can probably socialize now while fighting.

Doing Iron Lake (r40) leves, 2 stars, as 43 GLA with GAspect gave me ~4k on completion. Both times. Wish I could remember the exact numbers but I wasn't really thinking.

Nanawa at 32 PGL gave 1710 for 2 star, 1995 for 3 star. Consistant numbers. Done in over 10 minutes. Both with GA if that affects anything.

Have you picked up all 8 leves for this reset? If so, you won't be able to get more until the next reset.

Because once you're level 13, you can do leves at the r20 camp. Here's the Lodestone post on it.

What Sav is saying is true for local leves. You can start doing r20 crafting leves at level 15. But for regional leves -- like Battlecraft leves -- you can do r20 leves at level 13.
