Can I play on my Vita!?

Hi guys, I took a very extended break from FFXIV but now I am back and getting completely addicted! Few questions though:

1. Can I play FFXIV:ARR on my Vita? I currently have the PS3 version, but I would like to be able to play at work if possible.

2. If I can play on my Vita, do I need to be connected to the internet? (Is there an offline mode for simply leveling crafts? I have seen a few posts about this and got confused...)

I tried searching the forums for answers but I had no luck.

Sadly you can only play on your Vita through PS4 Link. Remote Play on the PS3 isn't supported (like, by any game ever as far as I'm aware).

It is remote play, so yes, you need a connection; you can connect directly to your PS4 if you're in wireless range, or over the internet if not. There is no offline mode.

offline mode would be amazing but it means player save data gets stored on player hard drives, which opens up it to hex-editing etc.

means i'm not thinking about FF all day too which i guess is good

I use Vita with remote play every day on the way to / from work to do some fishing, basic crafting, gathering and gardening and all I can say that PC / PS3 players are green of envy of this wonderfull feature. Need to grab some of those unspoiled nodes or fertilize your garden every hour? There is no better way for that

Heads up, you need a decent upload speed for it to work, I think 2mbps is the minimum, I get around 1mbps upload and it doesn't work
Being able to play in the garden on a nice summer evening though is fantastic

BUT on a different note I tried to remote play while at work with my PS4(I know you only have 3) It was so choppy and I couldn't keep a connection. If you have a good Upload you can play fine. I know a guy who lives in Pittsburgh, PA and played all weekend while he was in Philadelphia, PA. I am 10 miles from my house and couldn't even access my ps4.

Hahahaha thanks! Whew, much better! For a second I thought this wasn't the internet.

I would probably have to turn my phone into a HotSpot so I doubt it would be a decent experience. Dang. Oh well, still I like the idea of being able to play on my Vita while grilling outside or taking my cats and bearded dragons for walks. I am planning on getting a PS4 in July so I will be able to play with the feature a bit in the coming weeks!

I have a 2mb connection and usually I have no issues, I usually do some dungeons at night because my brother wants to use the xbox 360 I we only have one TV its an awesome feature I think its the only game on my ps4 that I use it, however if someone tries to watch an HD video or something like that I get disconnected so I have to run to my TV or reconnect again. Still totally recommended.

As an aside about a dozen PS3 games support Remote Play on the Vita - there is a list on the SONY site. You can also play a number of downloaded PS1 and PS2 games remotely from PS3 to Vita which works quite well. Of course, the PS4 Remote Play is supported by almost all PS4 games - which works really well on most depending on controller configurations and re-mapping.
