[dev1027] New Monster Con: Too Weak

    On top of:
    • Impossible to Gauge
    • Very Tough
    • Tough
    • Even Match
    • Decent Challenge
    • Easy Prey

Please add a new, "Too Weak" category. The color most MMOs, including XI use is Grey for this. Monsters should be "Grey" when they no longer award any SP or EXP for your rank.

Agreed. Though you should take note that the rank that this starts happening is significantly higher than average. You already get some fairly discouraging returns for attacking monsters that con blue, it's essentially a signal to go elsewhere unless you are farming.

Signed. FFXI had a "too weak" status too for mobs which didn't yield EXP any more. And by the time you learned, that even a too weak mob can still be very dangerous, especially if it has buddys nearby which link or agro or mabye both. Something like that is in your mind by time and you know and learn and learn and know what mobs you better not touch even if they're counted as "too weak" - but i would like to see that status, just to know, which mobs still give EXP and which not. It also helps knowing which mobs will still agro you and which not. It has many uses which makes the FFXIV experience even more great.

Seems like an easy, logical change to make.

I'd really like this plus being able to /check mobs.

The current rating system is just really flawed in that the difficulty rating constantly adjusts to the party sizes. Two blue monsters make a red when partied against you and a full party of players can make a very high ranked red turn blue or yellow. I remember a very ugly skill up party against raptors in back in October where no one could survive a blue raptor for 10 secs. The old rating system would be a very welcome change allowing players to judge the difficulty of monsters over a color system which assumes too many variables about the party. Also seeing high evasion and high defense on monsters would be a great addition.

I concur. The following additions should be made.
    1. Add "Too Weak" Category
    2. Add "with High Defense", "with High Evasion"
    3. Add a "/check" function that can be key mapped.

I would very much like #2 and #3 to be combined so that when you do a /check, a small summary of the mobs strength relative to yours shows up on the middle dialog box. Example:

    Iron Coblyn
    Even Match
    High Defense
    Earth Affinity
    Pierce Resistant

But it wouldn't show up all at once for every mob. You will have had to have had some experience with the mob before all the information shows up. So if you never fought an Iron Coblyn before, all the /check would say is "Even Match". After you've fought one, the next one you /check would also say "High Defense". After you've got several of them under you belt would you get the full summary.

    Just an idea.

I say screw the con system already and just display the rank of the monster I'm looking at. The cons system as currently implemented is too inconsistent, especially when in a dynamically changing party.

I really don't see any reason why (aside from issues of "immersion" which I think are minor in this case) I shouldn't just be able to see the monster's rank. It would make figuring out what to grind on that much more simple and intuitive.
