Dungeons used to be huge in 1.0. Lots of fun to explore and/or hunt notorious monsters in.

How about re-opening the dungeons we have now, but in an alternative form with no roadblock-boses to fight through or an ending. The current dungeons would be far too linear to explore or level up in. So why dont you re-use the massive dungeons from 1.0 of similar name for this.

Just an area where you, alone or with friends in a party, can enter and fight monsters for experience points or hunt notorious monster "bosses" for drops. Quick respawning monsters and long-respawning bosses.

For example Sastasha. The new Sastasha we can enter through the duty finder is just a long path without much to do, most dungeons are this way now for obvious reasons. But the old Sastasha (and there's absolutely no reason why lore-wise this couldnt simply be re-used as a part of the area that is unaccesable in the current sastasha) was a huge maze like area with no real end-point, just a massive field of tunnels to explore and fight in with big underground lakes full of coral here and there.

Once we have finished the regular dungeon once, why not allow us to travel to the location where the dungeon entrance is located and upon clicking it be allowed to select between the Duty Finder variant, which will sign you and your party up for the Duty Finder, or be allowed to access the alternative (1.0) Free-Mode variant that is the maze of the 1.0 version.

You already have the .dat files done and ready from 1.0, it would be trivial work to convert those for dungeons. And it wouldnt require any extra work since the dungeons from 1.0 were even MORE detailed and pretty looking than the ones we have here.

I just feel it would be an excellent opportunity to go explore with friends and level up on monsters. Or even by yourself. Especially with so many people demanding harder content, if they can fight their way through a dungeon in search of a notorious monster they can kill for a chance at a interesting drop they would be very happy as well.

So in summary;

- Casual players would be happy because they can explore and fight monsters for experience and items without the pressure of a party rushing them through.
- People who like playing with friends can use it to level up together and have fun again with however many people they can fit in a party for it.
- Hardcore players would be happy because they can tackle the harder dungeons by themselves, or fight their way towards more difficult monsters further in for glory, items and fun.
